It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll.
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.
Talk to any adult, and, if they're honest, will tell you that they do not use a large majority of what they learned in high school later in their life?
So what exactly is the purpose of high school? To let you figure out what you want to do with your life?
I figure there should be some intermediary between middle school and University/College where you sample jobs and explore carrer opportunities while saving for your eventual higher education. I mean, once you learn reading, writing, arithmetic, etc. in middle school, everything beyond it is just an accessory.
In going straight to college out of high school, you're essentially taking a chance with what you think you would like to do, and have to feel the consequences of the choice your own life. Think of how many people got halfway through University and found that it was not what they wanted to do, but end up wasting their lives doing it.
Thought on this, Flood?
