Subject: The Reach DMR must return

"If you want to test a man's character, give him power" -- Abraham Lincoln

Think about it. What weapon dominates at all rifle ranges? The DMR. This is due mainly to the fact that its bloom was decreased significantly and its auto aim appears to be stronger than the other rifles. Essentially, IMO, it renders most of the rifles in Halo 4 useless.

The only way to solve this is to go back to the Reach DMR. Increasing the bloom would force players, just as it did in Reach, to at least try and use the rifle as it was intended just being a contest of who can spam the rifle faster.

Thats my opinion. If the DMR was returned to its original mechanics as it was in Reach, I think Halo 4 would benefit greatly by seeing a more diverse use of weaponry. The only reason people wanted the DMR in Reach to have less bloom is because there wasn't really a rifle to fill the mid range gap, such as the DMR.

EDIT: To clarify I also believe that magnetism and auto aim should be reduced

Reduce auto aim and projectile size, make sure it does not kill faster than the other rifles, and problem solved.

Wow I thought we were still months away from Rach was the best Halo and 4 is a disgrace threads. lol Halo fans.

I still to this day don't understand why the Reach DMR has bloom instead of a set rate of fire. Bloom only makes the gun more powerful if anything.

Try evolving your thinking a little bit, you're being pretty simpleminded.

I didn't like how it was too useful for every single situation.

Just remember that no matter how terrible you feel, or how much you want to let go, there are people who care about you and love you.

Or we could just get rid of the DMR altogether!

Maybe we should just get rid of the DMR and forget it ever existed?

How?

reducing the rate of fire would be bettr. Bloom sucks.

Life is a journey, if you spend all of it with your nose in your map, you may miss some of the best parts.

No. It needs to remain ZB. The range needs to be decreased when it hipfires, and the RoF needs to go back to Reach's (RoF was increased in H4).

Also, less bullet magnetism and auto aim would be good.

The main problem is that the DMR doesn't have a bloom anymore.

I knew that this would be a problem well before Halo 4 came out. If you actually played in the MLG playlist, which had no bloom, then you could see how powerful the DMR was, even then.

On top of that, the DMR has a much stickier aim than the other weapons.

I think if the rate of fire were to decrease for the Halo 4 DMR, it wouldn't do too much to solve the problem since it would still be more accurate than the other rifles. The DMR's reticle at full bloom basically fits inside all the inner reticle of the other rifles that have no bloom.

I did play in that playlist and in the ZB playlist. It was the only gun people used, aside from the ZB magnum.

You're saying that bloom makes a weapon more powerful?

I know, man. The DMR just overshadowed everything in both of those playlists. I can understand MLG, because they mainly use precision weapons, but the ZB was the same way.

I really try to use the other rifles in Halo 4, but find myself being trampled if I don't use the more dominant DMR as others are.

If you assign every letter of the alphabet a number, a is 1, b is 2, etc., and you take all of the values of the word "MATH", and add them, you get 42. So math is the meaning of life, the universe, and everything.

Oh I remember when I not once read what the consequence would be if the DMR had no bloom, funny how I read it now. This is just one heck of a knee-slapper, if I say so myself.

I'm exactly the same. I used the DMR for about a week, and it's still my 'favorite' weapon because I got so many kills with it. I try to use the Carbine most of the time now.

How?
A simple thought process demonstrates why.

Let's say we have two DMRs. The first is the Reach DMR as we know it, with Bloom intact. The second is the Reach DMR, except it has no bloom, but to compensate, it has a firing rate cap set so that you can't fire faster than a Bloom DMR that is pacing it's shots.

The Dominant Strategy with the DMR at long range is to pace your shots by waiting for the reticle to completely reset before taking another shot, ensuring the highest amount of accuracy, correct?

And the Dominant Strategy with the DMR at close range is to spam your shots a little as accuracy doesn't matter nearly as much up close, correct?

Let's see if you can work the rest of it out as I'm in a game of League of Legends at the moment. What't the difference between our two hypothetical DMRs at both ranges? Which one is better at each?

It wasn't hard to see the consequence if you played ZB slayer in Reach.

ZB is better; more bloom will make it easier to aim from the hip in CQC. I think less auto aim and bullet magnetism will solve any problems.

It wasn't hard to predict it beforehand, either. Which makes this even more amusing, doesn't it?
