Have you ever bought a game thinking you'd like it, only to find that you're totally hooked after an hour or so and you just can't stop playing?

I thought I'd have that experience with Skyrim, but surprisingly I didn't. Same goes for Halo 3, Halo 4, Battlefield 3... the list goes on. However, one game takes the biscuit. One game has destroyed my sleeping pattern.

Anno 2070.

I've started two "Continuous Game(s)" as the initial factions, and each game has lasted over 5 hours. There are in-game notifications that let you know when you've passed two hour intervals, so for my first playthrough to have almost 1,000,000 credits, 7000 citizens and a small empire, with over 8 hours play time? Damn, I got my money's worth. And before you ask: the combined 12+ hours play time is in the last 30 hours or so. Help.

Sadly it was in the sale when I bought it, so anyone looking to try it will be slapped with a £30 charge.

Has anyone else ever experienced this? What game was/is it with?

He who wishes for peace must first prepare for war.

Rome Total War, Empire Total War, any Total war games, or any strategy games.

I'm a master at strategy.

If you assign every letter of the alphabet a number, a is 1, b is 2, etc., and you take all of the values of the word "MATH", and add them, you get 42. So math is the meaning of life, the universe, and everything.

I was addicted to multiple games during my time as a gamer.

"If you want to test a man's character, give him power" -- Abraham Lincoln

I've played games like Battlefield 3, Reach, and Skyrim that have kept me playing long periods at a time, but never enough to prevent me from recognizing that Im a human being who needs a full night's rest.

Far Cry 3, been in the Xbox for a couple of weeks now.

Most recently I started replaying Mount & Blade: Warband with the Floris Expanded mod pack and sunk about 10 hours in one sitting yesterday and about 8 today. Other games that come to mind like that were Tropico 3 and Civilization 5, those are also just massive freaking time-sinks.

Pure Insanity
The point of war is not to die for one's clan, but it's to make the other bastard die for his
Right before you die, there is always a chance to save yourself, sieze that chance and live to fight another day
The best way to kill someone is to fight them with the same weapons they use and make them know you are better than them, not because of superior weaponry, but because of superior skill.
Hidden in the shadows, Clothed in camo, Armed to the teeth. Hunting.

For both KOTOR I and II, Battlefront I and II, and RC, I basically played only those games for a couple of years. Both KOTOR games had me going on double-digit gaming periods. I don't entirely remember, but I think I played the first one for about a day straight once. Well, with breaks for the essentials.

What house has a rocket pod, has legs, and has a long narrow barrel that probably shoots something powerful?

Sounds like you're describing the lower half of my body, actually.

It was a long summer day. I was looking through some games, at a local store I use to. The game had a weird symbol on it and it said, "MORROWIND!" I was like, Morrowind? Heh let us give it a try, I probably will only play it for an hour and get back to Halo.

My friends never saw me until 3 years later.

Be sure to tell everyone how cool you are. If you don't tell them, they won't know.

I'm still addicted to Minecraft and whatever current Halo is out.

I'm also addicted to Binding of Issac, thanks to its rouge-like charms.

The issue here is that it's now 5am and I didn't even realise. Oh my.

Halo 2/3/Farcry 3/Minecraft all did this too me.

No regrets.

The human element always mucks things up.

"Morrowind? What does that mean? Why is this ugly guy talking to me? Did I just eat scrap metal? Did my weapon seriously just break? Those crabs are ugly..."

*6 hours later*

"WHO NEEDS SLEEP WHEN I HAVE MORROWIND?!?!?!?!"
