Do you think we will see an XBOX 720 at this years CES? If Microsoft debut the 720, will they uses Destiny to promote it?

Adam Sessler has been reported as saying that if publishers want to compete this year, that they will need to switch up their strategy and release during the dry summer months. Could this be foreshadowing for a Summer release of the 720?

And if Microsoft is revealing the 720 this week, then what better way to show it off then a trailer for Bungie's upcoming so called title 'Destiny'. Supposedly this Just Cause 3 running on a 720, can't wait what Bungie will do with all that POWER!!!

What to you think the odds of a Bungie trailer ala a 720 debut at this years CES?

What a waste....

Clever title to lure in the replies...

Knowing Microsoft, they'll fail miserably with all that potential.

  • 01.07.2013 11:47 PM PDT

I think it will be more aimed at E3 if they are going to reveal the Xbox 720.

  • 01.07.2013 11:48 PM PDT

What? People read these?

What a dirty trick with the title.

  • 01.07.2013 11:48 PM PDT

I don't think microsoft would use Destiny as a flagship product, considering it's now a multi-platform game published by activision.

"Moooooooo"
-Ghost cow

That Just Cause 3 looks really fake and low quality.

  • 01.07.2013 11:49 PM PDT

It's not going to be called the "720". It's just going to be called "Xbox".

True, but it will eventually go multi-plat. At the beginning it will be a Microsoft exclusive.

I thought it was multiplatform from the start? At least from what I've read about it.

This, also isn't Destiny supposed to be for the 360?

As for the Just Cause 3 demo, I could also suggest it's being run on a PC.

The next Xbox is too big for that. Microsoft will have their own hyped up conference.

Anyone but Foman. He smells like cheese.

Microsoft already stated they will not be revealing their next-generation console at CES. I don't think they'd lie about that.

Microsoft is sitting on $60 billion in cash and has a history of doing its own, separate events to make major product announcements, just like Apple. They don't need to tagalong on some other event like companies with less money such as Intel or Valve (especially a minor event like CES), and they would not risk having their thunder taken away from "their moment" in revealing the new console when they can afford their own event.

You can and you reasonably SHOULD expect the new console to have its own, separate announcement event, probably sometime in spring.

My guess is they'll do the same thing they did with the 360. Announce it before E3 and then demonstrate it at E3. (343 even did something similar with Halo 4. Show off the first gameplay during March followed by a real demonstration at E3.)

One thing I've noticed is that besides for Halo, GoW is MS's flagship exclusive. And since it's being released for the first time in spring instead of the holidays, that tells me they are planning the Xbox 3rd Gen's release in Fall.

Then again, they could be bringing out the red carpet for Destiny. But I find that a bit weird since Destiny will eventually be going multi-platform.

blarg.

Most tech demos never actually turn out to be anything like what the console itself can render, typically because they either aren't in real time, use higher quality models or just use all of the console's processing power for graphics and sound. (Based on my observations.)

Pretty much. Although certain games like Crysis 2 didnt change much from the beta iteration (console-wise of course) but Reach, Halo 3 and Halo 4 looked better in their beta states. Perhaps it's because as you said, they run them on a higher-def PC to show off the potential.

OT: Not sure if the 720 will actually be able to harness that quality of graphics. But then again, games like BF3, Crysis, GoW3, and even Halo 4 look great on the 360, and the next xbox will only improve upon that.

It's bound to be unveiled in May or June. All the signs are pointing to the holidays this year. And yeah I'm a second class citizen for now though I'm sure I'll be bumped back into the aristocracy of Bnet. Plus who knows for how much longer we'll even have titles with the new website coming.

Major props to my hommie Sheeef. He made Recon possible for me. Long time recovering emails and passwords. And it was his. lol.

Misleading title, OP.

Unsure yet though. XBox 720 will be happening and Destiny will be happening. But no news if they will be hand-in-hand.

It has to be shown somewhere and Microsoft has a history with Bungie. Not really that far-fetched.
