I was just thinking i enjoyed the way the rank system was brfore the "Reset", and i enjoyed it after too b/c it was fun to actually get a 'higher' rank. I have a new idea if anyone here has played Battle Field 2: Modern Combat you will know what im talking about...... instead of just getting points or experience from only winning and losing from losing. If there was another way to get points..... you would get your points for winning but and extra point for however many kills you had in slayer for example or points for stealing the flag, killing the carrier, or scoring. This would help those who maybe did lose could still get points b/c there has been many times where i go in as a single and dont get the best of teammates and come out on top with even more than there best player..........

help the loners

Well you would still get points for winning and lose points from losing but like i said in the post you might not lose as much or none at all if you do well....... So going in a group would give you a better chance of winning and getting the extra points.

If Team Swat became ranked, would there still be no shields?

Amazing!

No.

How about just kills death ratio. I hated the rank system in halo 2 I hope they have a much better one for halo 3.

Kill death/ratio is better, but it's much more difficult to figure out for gaining points.

Any type of visible rank system ruins the game experience. Halo 2 and even BF2 prove this. People are primarily concerned with their individual achievements, and teamwork, manners, and fun go completely out the window. People do all sorts of idiotic things like cheating and just being generally poor sports.

Ranked Halo 2 on Xbox Live is one of the most unenjoyable gameplay experiences available, and it's 99% the fault of the people playing the game. The only way to get any enjoyment out if it is to mute everyone's voices.

No, I don't like this idea. Maybe if was implemented but it didn't show you the statistics that would be better.

um... I like the idea where u get leveled up by also how many kills you had, but the amount of flag grabs, plasma sticks, or grenades thta killed people is ridiculous. I was pissed off enough that i get medals in halo 2... OMG, I GOT A MEDAL FOR STICKING SOMEONE!!!... That right there showed that halo 2 was made for everyone. I honestly feel that they should implement a diff ranking style by accounting the players wins/losses and the amount of kills/ deaths. Some balance like that would be tight. I'm just saying to take out the medals and stupid -blam!- like that.

Don’t get mad if I flame you because you cannot spell, or because my three year old has better grammar and etiquette than you.

It would be good, but the rewards should be equal for defenders as well, the offensive shouldnt get all the credit, I dunno how that could really be balanced out though. Maybe enemy kills in base not just flag or bomb carrier kills only.

I don't think there should be a rank system and if there is one...I hope there won't be so many cheaters trying to get to high levels...

I think you are a little overpessimistic. Ranks help you from being destroyed by people all the time. I think the best way is an invisible rank system. It would allow the teams to be roughly balanced but people won't be so ape-blam!- to rank up.

Invisible rank to everyone except yourself.

  • 07.07.2006 9:08 PM PDT

the ranking system all xbox 360 live games are using is called the TrueSkill(TM) ranking system and it is built right into the console. halo 3 will more than likely use this system.

  • 07.07.2006 9:21 PM PDT

Bungie has learned a lot from Halo 2 and cheating and glitches and what to test for, so I am sure they will have a lot ironed out and ready for hardcore gaming with less problems, plus with the 360 feedback system I you will be able to block out players and MS can deal with them rather than having Bungie banning people, maybe there is a system in place to ban by the 360 serial number vs by gamer tag/id.

I am sure things will be much better. They already have something in the works for cheaters. SO I am sure they will have something grand instore for everything else craptacular to follow.
