Browsing through the forums, I'm am relatively new here, I found my niche posting here and there in the Halo 3 Forum and I noticed as well I can all of you have all the useless topics, repeats, and flamers.

I think we can all agree this has gotten way out of hand and control. I mean way out of control, now I know this is nothing new to anyone but I think we should actually do something about it this time around.

Its gotten to the point where it seems useless to post an idea or have a debate of some kind with out some out of control rant or comment always popping in.

Is there any way to institue some more mods maybe the veteran or tried and true members would be able to give a hand, and actually put out this rageing inferno of stupidity. Or maybe the existing mods(I know how hard your jobs are already thats wy I'm proposing to increase your force) is to actually crack down and become harder and harsher on the members that blatantly bring Bungie forums to a new depth of desolation.

I'm not here to complain about flamers etc. or whine on the subject, I'm posting for some affirmitave action that in my opinion seriously needs to be taken

------------------------------

Or maybe we can have some sort of private forum for the more esteemed members who have proven themselves decently intelligent and open to others ideas.

Well anyway Happy Bungie Day ^_^

More moderators would bring a great deal of "relief" to Bungie. As seeing that the mods do their work with precision and are really great, but they just don't catch everything...I think more mods would ease the tension and bring more order to B.net.

You'll soon learn that the process for picking mods is tough. Mostly because you have to know who is helpful, how helpful they are, how active they are, how loyal they are (because not everyone is doing it to aid the community), and how they go about being helpful. And this takes a while to figure out.

However, the mods think they are handling it well enough. I don't think Achronos plans on making any new moderators for a while.

It seems to me that the people at Bungie shouldn't even look through the forums since theres so much garbage to go through.

And its those diamonds in the rough that I'm afriad are lost through the sea of idiocy, a potentially good topic or debate that could aid Bungie in some way, never makes it to the surface cus if I worked at Bungie why would I bother to look through all that crap and waste my time.

I know picking mods is not an easy job, especially on a forum such as large as this one.

But I didn't say it was going to be an easy task I mean that it needs to be done.

Yes it may be hard in the begining but think of the benefits of more mods/or stricter ones

A happy Bungie forum where your appreciated lol I know it sounds corny but hey I was always a dreamer.

Well the great thing is that we never know when or how many mods there are...sure you can look at HFCS to see how many there are...but I am sure there are others who work with/around Achronos and the others to help them.

Thats true but when we get topics such as "how does mc ("goes to the bathroom", eat....)?" and "Halo on the Wii" I think we hit an all time low.

Now I'm not saying the mods aren't doing their jobs or doing a good job I just thinks theres to much clutter for the sane people we call mods to handle.

Well just because you don't see a potential reason for the thread not to be locked, doesn't mean that a mod doesn't...Even though some topics seem stupid...they do have a purpose...and thus they should be locked. Until they get out of control.

But generally, with a release of a new Title *as Halo 3*, more users join...no of which are acustom to B.net policies...so yea there is half the problem.

Just give it time. When there is a need, new moderators will come, and with them, a new wave of locks and bans and deletes. And there shall be peace. And then, when the forums are calm...

It shall begin again.

yoo•zel- ('yoo-zhul): slang: vb.

Officium quod Fidelitas.

The members have all said it... it you think about it, there are few moderators versus thousands of posts daily. It'd be ideal for people to control themselves while posting on the forum. Such as letting obvious topics that are flame bait or just generally stupid sink to the bottom... but then there are those who feel the urge to post as many times as they can. Truth be told, Moderators are cracking down. You may not see it, but that's generally how it works. We really can't be on to catch every little piece of garbage posted on Bungie.net, but we try our best to get the bulk of things. There will always be gaps in any website's moderating teams there isn't always going to be someone on at every hour of the day or night... or at least not in a volunteer gig. We try our best to cover as much as we can but there is no promise of a spam free forum. For now the best advice I can give you is to contact a Moderator regarding flaming, spamming or other malicious behavior. Even if we aren't on at the time, we can follow up and stop the offender.

Well thank you for that.

I personally know you guys are doing a good job and go unrewarded (as far as I can tell) for all your hardwork.

  • 07.07.2006 7:15 PM PDT

Skillet was here and referred to himself in the third person.

Sounds to me like somebody wants to become a moderator pretty bad.

Besides...a new moderator would be weird getting used to.

Nah I haven't been here long enough and theres probably people more qualified in fact I know there are. lol

Anyway I just noticed the chaos and decided to bring it some attention in my hopes to actually tone down the uselessness.

There's a fine line between there being gaps in the moderation because there's not enough mods, or there being times where mods clash and things get messed up because there's too many on.

Very fine line. It only took Reigi and Impy leaving to tip that balance, really.

Tipped the balance which way? From what I am hearing, before Imp left, there were enough moderators. Now that he's left there is just the right amount. You might want to clear that up for me...

Mourne not your comrades who must dwell / too strong to strive -

But rather mourne the apathetic throng / The cowed, and the meek -
Who see the world’s great anguish and its wrong / And dare not speak.

So you're saying there aren't enough mods anymore? What, the ones who are left aren't doing a good enough job?

*tries to make trouble*

On a more serious note, I wouldn't be suprised if more mods were created shortly before the release of Halo 3.

Well, I talked to "Impy" and I completely agree with him...and I sympathize with all the crap the Mods have to deal with...not saying I am trying to kiss butt...

Do I have to call the Humane Society again? At least they aren't stapled to kittens, I guess.

Oh, so the Bungie employees can tie their hands to kittens, but I can't?

Hey, do you want to get bant again?

Wait, what were we talking about? Oh, right, ninjas. I think there are enough for the moment. We just have to make sure to help them out when they need it. Late at night (er... early morning), it seems to be more important to notify them, because there aren't enough to keep a steady patrol.
