From the article:
Xi3 also offers the entry level X5A, which is priced at $499 with a Linux operating system
And that's still ridiculous. Did Valve learn nothing from Sony's mistakes?

I'm 23, I have a house, dog, girlfriend, job and I have no interest in any fanboyism so if you're thinking about sending me a childish PM, don't be surprised when I don't call back.

If that releases at a significantly lower price and can run everything in the Steam library flawlessly then I'll buy one.

Anything less and I may as well stick with what I've got.

At that price it's not going to do too well.

What? you mean the price that the PS3 was at lauch?

PS3 was $600 at launch not $1000.

The PS3's initial price tags were $499 for the 20GB model and $599 for the 60GB model.

And while we're at it, the 360's initial price tags were $299 for the core model and $399 for the Pro model.

Who are their target audience?

Console gamers are not going to buy it, people who already have a gaming PC are not going to buy it. As far as I can see they have a very limited market, but I guess it could grow if certain things happen (such as Half Life 3 being exclusive to 'Piston').

You have to remember that this is a prototype and people are jumping to conclusions by comparing this with current products that have the same specs. If Valve are seriously supporting this then it'll probably be a lot cheaper and if that's the case them a lot of people might buy one if it's marketed well.

Looks tiny and incapable.

My GPU is bigger than it.
Oh god what.
Gaben, please.

I was reading that these Xi devices are third party devices that my support Steam Box but are not Valve's official Steam Box.

But I am super excited about this.

I doubt Valve has a war chest big enough to sell their rig at a loss.

People aren't completely understanding the product. It's not a little box just for steam, its an entire gaming desktop that fits in the palm of your hand. And it is perfect for gamers on the go who don't want to drop 2 grand to get a really good gaming laptop.

From a guy who does lan party's all the time, this would have been really helpful to have. Also people see the 1 grand and start running but they don't see the $500 version. And we can't really say much about it until we get the full specs
