This is exactly what gets me mad...I said even though I might hate or disagree with them...I still respect them...don't you understand that? Or are you just trying to pick an arguement?!

Not trying to pick a fight. It's fine that you respect the beliefs, but why get mad that "we tie everything to religion?" Bungie did it, not "us."

In any case, I'll drop it because I don't wanna get this thread locked. Ice did a lot of work, let's at least get back on topic.

Let's get biblical!
That's it, I'm not gonna bother to read your post if you're gonna go all-out with an attitude similar to "Barney & Friends" and "Mr. Rogers."

Mr. Rogers would kick your ass any day... if he were alive

Yea Mr. Rogers is pretty cool...wait...was pretty cool *makes sad face*...
You guys make me feel bad...I'll edit my post...

"You must face the truth squarely and without flinching from duty. Our enemies are mortal no longer. Mercy for such as they is a chimera, self-deception is its only ally. Dedicate this weapon, given unto your hand at the behest of the Emperor, to their destruction. Regard its function as your only duty: you live only to bring cleansing fire."

for christ sakes its a game. who gives a -blam!- if you dont liek halo because it ties into the bible. i sure as hell dont care. i am christian, and i read the bible and i play halo. do you hate me now? good!

if you dont like it then either dont play it, play it cause its a great game, or just look at the religiouse connections as coincidence and get on with your life. dont get fired up that a game was made using the story of the bible. if you dont like the story, go play multiplayer, if anything that strays pretty far from religion

edit: ok, i'm done. continue on topic

To my rememberance Bungie I don't think Bungie ever said it tied to religion...they said it was about salvation?!...and who says I get mad I just don't agree with people always bringing up religion on a game...kind of stupid...but like I said it is their beliefs not mine...

Ice, do you believe the activation in the trailer had anything to do with the Covenant being "unworthy" so they triggered something unexpectedly?

Can't we all just get along?
The Bible has a lot of trmendous stories, and I think it's pretty awsome to see them cleverly intertwined with a great storie such as Halo.
Just because it has hidden meanings about scripture, doesn't take anything away from the game... it just makes you kinda think and say "Hey, they pulled that off pretty good."

Ok, if the game was based on Norse mythology (which is true as well), and people made a lot of ties into Norse stories and Halo, would some of you still freak out as much, and get angry that "religious" people read too much into the Norse thing? My guess is no- some people need to learn to leave their prejudices out of threads and discussions.

Anywho, on to topic- Ice, I've always thought that the Ark was the Ark of the Covenant, rather than Noah. Good stuff. I really really enjoy the part where you talked about MC being shielded- I never really thought about that. As for the I AM thing, I think that's stretching it a little much.

However, I'm wondering. This brings up some interesting possibilities. Ok, for the Israelites, when the Philistines tried to take the Ark because they thought it was magical or whatever, and that it would help them win battles, ultimately it gave them cancerous sores and all kinds of other crazy things. Do you think something similar will happen with the Ark and the Halos when Truth & Co. try to activate it? Like, that it is only meant for Reclaimers, and nobody else, much like the Ark of the Covenant was only for the Israelites?

I suddenly feel like opening my bible. Who would have thought the game that made me skip sunday school would eventually bring me back?

*Shrug*

I'm a minister, and the church I work at is right across the street from a high school- every Thursday, about 15 people come over to play Halo 2 at the church for about 2 to 3 hours. It's pretty freaking sweet.

Are you kidding me?!? I mentioned Halo 2 to my pastor once when we were talking and he thought I was going to hell cuz I play it, so maybe it's time for a new church.

The Youth Group leader at my home church frequently has Halo tourneys. So did my college group, only it was Halo: CE back in the day when I was in college. *tear*

My God that would be awsome!

Really? Yeesh. I don't know your pastor, so I'm not going to be disrespectful or anything- but sometimes it's harder for some people to appreciate the value that can be found in entertainment mediums of all kinds- themes like redemption, truth, beauty, etc. And those are certainly there in Halo, but it's hard for some people to see past some of the violence. I mean, heck- if somebody made a movie about the book of Genesis, it would HAVE to be Rated R- there is all kinds of adult themes in there.

Also, I say that one should never underestimate the value of anything that builds community- heck, X-Box Live is a great community to play in and enjoy a common thing together. LAN parties are the same way. People need other people, and Halo is a great way to bring people together, I say.

Plus, you should never underestimate the value of a good solid butt kicking on FFA Slayer in Lockout ;) Great times, right there.
