I'll have you know

Indestructible!

Well, sometimes these sorts of allegories are hit and miss.
In October of 2004, a month before halo 2 came out, I posted some stuff from Revelations and the book of Daniel.

Revelation was... eh, kinda shakey.
The stuff from Daniel practically spoiled Halo 2. It foretold the covenant heretics, the temple being taken over, a "prince of the Covenant" being swept away.

Some connections may be unintentional and only be in the eye of one fan. Others may be highly stressed, but overlooked.

I like your work.
Keep diggin', Chief.

"Then, there is the fact that only he can do it. When Keyes and Halsey go to check out John to see if he was right for the Spartan program (The Fall of Reach, pg 21), Keyes said, "What difference could a child make?" and Halsey replied, "This child could be more useful to the UNSC than a fleet of destroyers, a thousand Junior Grade Lieutenants--or even me. In the end, the child may be the only thing that makes any difference." This shows that the Master Chief is the only one able to save humanity."

I dont know whether this has been pointed out yet, but you reference this incorrectly. Dr Halsey along with Humanity was unaware of a Covenant presence during this stage of Fall of Reach. The Children were actually being chosen to act as super-soldiers to keep the Human Confederacy together, as it had grown unstable and in fact was falling apart.

So originally, SPARTANS were not designed to be the savoir of human kind, that ideal came along with the Covenants appearance.

No doubt.

But it was a coincidence Master Chief had been 'created'.

And dont say that it wasnt coincidence because it was meant to be, that would just logically undermine everything you've said.

All in all, its an impressive theory.

I love these theories. I have to say that the research that is done to flesh out a theory like this is daunting. I went to catholic school for 9 years and I could not do it. I'd also like to add to the naysayers about bible or religious theories that whatever you approach as a fan or not of anything is wholly affected by the experiences that helped to shape you. In other words if you never read, heard or sought outchristianity than you probably will find little to no parrallels to it in something such as Halo. I see the allusions and think they are there intentionally. This does not mean that Halo, if it is a "retelling" of thematic elements in the bible that Halos' story arc will be or is dictated by what has already happened in the bible. Most of the time a story a game or anything creative is not original it is simply done with a new twist, an edge or new elements to make it fresh. Many believe Star Wars is simply World War 2 in space. Does this possibility take away it's significance in cinematic storytelling? Nope. Halos' significance, in my opinion, is that it furthered the FPS through story and simplicity. Superman, BatMan, Spiderman and every other pop culture icon are constanly reinvented some to great fanfare and some to no fanfare. The point is that the player can take away from it whatever they want and the bungie forums are here to allow us to share our experience with the game and what we came

away with by playing or if you like living it. His opinion is no less valid merely because you want to keep religion out of it.

Religious or not, the amount of research that went into this is awesome. You don't have to be a Christian to enjoy the religious elements in Halo. I don't have to be a Chemistry geek to appreciate the amount of detail the Bungie had when they created an alien parasite. And though it is fiction, not too much is completely out there. And in that setting, the amount of authenticity and believability is stunning.

I still like most of the work you put into this, but I'm going to argue the Gravemind point again. In my opinion, Gravemind represents Abaddon/Apollyon who can be considered the Beast, the Antichrist. Fallen Angels seem most congruous with the Flood (specifically the Combat Forms) and Gravemind appears to be the "leader" of the Flood although not in complete control. Abaddon leads the Fallen Angels from the Abyss in Revelation 9:11.

If Tartarus was considered the Beast, then he was already defeated by the Arbiter. That would put us at Revelation 19:17 or so at the end of Halo 2. There isn't all that much left for Halo 3 then.

Yeah, Tartarus was killed. But then, doesn't the Antichrist get killed? Basically, I'm hoping Tartarus comes back in Halo 3 (well sort of hoping, I really don't like him though). Besides, the Antichrist is supposed to be killed by a sword or something, maybe that's what'll be used in the book. We'll just have to wait, I guess.

....I know you want me to not say this...

...But I think we are looking way too deep into things.

Wouldn't it absolutely suck if we drew so many parallels, and then when we start playing the game, we know about EVERYTHING before it happens? It'll turn Halo 3 into a deja-vu.

Well, I think I am looking as deep as I want to, and really, what I want is that matters, right?

Anyway, I'd be quite happy if I found out that some of this stuff I've thought of turned out to be true. Halo 3 will still be great, even if I knew most of what was coming.

Amazing theory. Might not be true, but it gets you thinking. It would be hilarious if it says at the end of the credits: Based on the Bible. That would be a definite time for "I told you so's."

And as for "Halo doesn't relate to the Bible", here is a quote from an interview with Chris Butcher, Bungie developer:

Chris Butcher: As far as the story, it can be looked at as a biblical allegory. The parallels are stronger than you probably realise, because nobody outside of Bungie has more than a corner of the big picture. And we only have two corners.
That doesn't make any sense. That would imply that we essentially know how Halo 3 is going to end. Besides, that is one guy from bungie talking. I doubt that the whole company looks at the game as a parallel to the bible.

Furthermore...Chris said "CAN be looked at," meaning that it probably wasn't their intention.

Awful, AWFUL argument. I wish people like this wouldn't bother posting.

Good theory - good work.

A mythic member but I speak my mind to much.

OK I see you can Match the characters to people and events in the bible, and what they represent

But what is confusing me is that I see how groups like the covenant, character, and things from Halo relate to some bible references but what does it mean for halo three, how does it all come together. I have been seeing this alot, people reference thing and show all this evidence but show anything of what might happen.

Im not sure if you understand what I getting at but there is somthing missing from this theory. AN ending you EXplain the stories characters but don't put them into the story and give us what you think will happen.

If the Halo series runs parallel to the story of Revelations in the bible, then we can assume that the end of the series will be parallel to the end of Revelations. That's how it affects the story of Halo 3.

Look... I'm on bungiepedia!

I like most of it, except for the part about how you said he got 'stronger' at Halo..I think that Bungie stepped away from the more realistic side (That Nylund Depicted), to keep the game fun and flowing..rather than you dying from every stray Plasma bolt that hits you in the head, lol.

Also, "Goy" means a non - Jew, or a Jewish person ignorant to the Jewish Religion..

goy ( P ) Pronunciation Key (goi)
n. Offensive pl. goy·im (goim) or goys
Used as a disparaging term for one who is not a Jew.

[Yiddish, from Hebrew gôy, Jew ignorant of the Jewish religion, non-Jew. See gwy in Semitic Roots.]

goy
n : in this sense `Gentile' denotes a Christian as contrasted with a Jew; `goy' is a derogatory word for Christians used by Jews [syn: Gentile, non-Jew]

Isn't unggoy actually a swahili word? I remember hearing that on the HBO forums a year or so ago. Let me check... huh. I can't find it. Anyone else remember hearing that?

The Bring Back Bloodgulch Group have many members looking for more its kind of an unofficial petition to Bungie to bring back Bloodgulch in Reach http://www.bungie.net/fanclub/bx3g/Group/GroupHome.aspx

it is certainly well thought out, but i like to think that halo is its own story and not connected to the bible

if it was connected to the bible, then wouldn't we certainly know the end of the story? the humans win and the covenant and flood destroyed? i (no offense) think bungie is a little more creative than to basically copy their story from the bible, although they may have taken some elements from it

Yeah but the antichrist is supposed to rule for 1,000 years meaning humans don't need to win..

No, the Antichrist rules for 42 months.

And he was given a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies, and he was given authority to continue for forty-two months.
