And as for "Halo doesn't relate to the Bible", here is a quote from an interview with Chris Butcher, Bungie developer:
Chris Butcher: As far as the story, it can be looked at as a biblical allegory. The parallels are stronger than you probably realise, because nobody outside of Bungie has more than a corner of the big picture. And we only have two corners. That doesn't make any sense. That would imply that we essentially know how Halo 3 is going to end. Besides, that is one guy from bungie talking. I doubt that the whole company looks at the game as a parallel to the bible.
Furthermore...Chris said "CAN be looked at," meaning that it probably wasn't their intention.
Wow, you are really trying to make yourself believe the story has nothing to do with the Bible. Face it, you're wrong, and it does. Please stop trying to get these threads locked, they're valid and thoughtful threads. If you don't like them, don't read them.Maybe you're right. Maybe I'm fooling myself. Maybe I'm fooling myself because I think it's silly that a video game has parallels with the bible. I'm not trying to get this thread locked. I'm just posting what I WISH were true. Looks like I can't though, because there's far too much blind faith running amok.
Yeah, so what, you're right, I'm trying to convince myself that it isn't true. Heh. I guess I'm being a hypocrite; always trying to believe the truth, yet in this thread, I deny the truth.
So you explained to me what my own thoughts were. Would you like a cookie or something?
Alot of entertainment connects to the Bible not only games but: Lord of the Rings and The Lion,The Witch, and The Wardrobe! The Matrix ;-)
But the difference between Halo and LOTR and Narnia is that LOTR and Narnia were written with those representations and symbolisms on purpose. As a matter of fact, C.S. Lewis and Tolkien were good friends who actually bumped off each other's work. Lewis put the concept of metaphor much heavier in his book series while Tolkien left it to be more subtle.
Bungie simply has written a story in which the plot unfolds in a very coincidental, almost uncanny, way. But can you not also take a very large amount of any other stories and plug most of these coincidents in as well? Mind you, I am in no way trying to shame or disregard this theory or the creator of it (very nicely done, that had to have taken some time) but some of it seems a little stretched. I do however believe Bungie did put in some biblical elements for the intended purpose of a deeper symbolism.
