First, I am so damn happy they are allowing you to game all game settings from the pregame lobby (see Weekly Update). Thank you, UI guys.

But this brings up my dream for Halo 3 that is not so far out there but won't happen. One of the things folks clearly love about Halo (and video games in general) is tweaking with settings and customizing junk. The amount of energy spent of coming up with game types with odd rules (Zombies, Tower of Power, Civil War, Punch Out, Battle Royale, Bust-A-Bulb to name a few) and finding glitches, not to mention modding-for-fun (admit it, you were kind of impressed the first time you saw a flying Warthog), people clearly enjoy the sandbox aspect. I say Bungie should feed that joy as much as possible without breaking the game.

Now, keep in mind that I feel this should only be for customs and not matchmaking, and I am not advocating modding.

What I want is the ability to tweak a lot more settings. Some of these things are stuff that have already been discussed. Yes, a lot of these could be used to create gametypes that are stupid but it would be nice to have the options. Here's a partial list:

* Forced team switching. I don't really like Zombies, but I think there is potential for other game types to be invented.
* Weapon restrictions. This includes different starting weapons, but also making it so that certain teams can't use certain weapons. Again, helpful for Zombie type games, but can also be used for other things.
* Weapons tweaks. You want to create rockets that don't lock-on? How about sniper rifles with twice the ammo? Or maybe needlers with twice the punch?
* Fall damage.
* Gravity. Turn it low or high.
* Map options. How about the ability to turn certain map elements on and off? Maybe you don't want the bridge on Collousus on a slayer game. Maybe you want the side ramps on CTF on Relic. Or turn off the grav lifts on Midship.

I am sure there are more. I understand why Bungie doesn't include these things. They want to make any customized game be 'good' so they limit options. But folks love to play and I say give them the option. All sorts of interesting gametypes might be invented.
