It seems every time I try I just end up thrusting my pelvis. I can't do a normal, decent dance to save my life. :(

Woe is me.

lol.

I've never learned how to dance in the first place. One of the reasons I'm not going to homeecoming this year. That and I don't want to rent a tux.

Woe is your dance partner.

Constant pelvic thrusting is a surefire sign of insecurity, but really funny if you do it in squaredancing.

I do it to be funny, and typically get a lot of attention when I do. However, since I've done it so often I've got in the habit of only doing it.

So, I'm listening to some Aphex Twins, trying to re-teach myself. It's coming along well, it just takes a lot of concentration.

1) Be alone.
2) Turn on techno.
3) Start moving to it.

Do this for about an hour and I guarentee you'll be both tired and more confident in your dance abilities. It might take more work if you can't feel a beat... which I can't possibly imagine. Beats are programmed into me like breathing.

You're dancing to Aphex Twin?!

That's like having sex while listening to Genesis or something...

Aphex is the daddy. Try his song Digeridoo to practice to- one of his more danceable tunes I find.

If I do or see pelvic thrusting on the day before I die, it'll be too soon.

I've never known how to dance. I just like to pretend. Whenever I try to dance I just end up doing a mime routine.
