if theres no ranking system whatsoever, i believe there will be no cheating whatsoever
whats the point to cheat if theres no rank?kids wont cheat on h3 once they find out theres no number or rank...trust me.. thats why theres cheaters still today on halo 2, cuz kids CARE WAYY too much about a number next to their name. rediculous.

but if their is a ranking system, there will be cheating cuz kids want to experiment and get the whatever rank it is up really high so they can feel proud of themselves amd make ppl think theyre "good" right when the game came out...we cant really stop that..UNLESS halo 3 will have dedicated severs and some form of automatic lagging out when it detects someone pressing standbye.....which....i highly doubt they will have that for h3

Their probably wont be cheating because the real modders aren't going to give out their tools publicly like they did with halo 2. THey will most likely only distribute to certain people.

Also if bungie is smart they will invest in a punkbuster type system that eliminates most modding (besides network distortion stuff).

If Bungie is ever vigilant and increases the plenty for banning and suspensions, I like the rank system personnally. Since most of the cheaters and modders are high level, I generally don't go past lvl 25.

sadly, while you posted logic, you posted a lie.........

people cheat even when there is not anything to gain, just because they enjoy ticking people off.........

now, if bungie would make any kid that is <13 be forced into a playlist with cheaters allowed........ <cries at thought of the sweet justice that will never be served>

Well I dont see how they can with Halo 3 being on the 360 and there is no way to just get a two mounth anymore because you have to buy the subscriptions off the market place now so they are just waisting their money for something stupid, also they can get their account revoked from the game they can get fined for modding microsofts stuff and they can even get sued so I really dont think theres any one that stupid to mod a 360.

alright first off dude... u can still buy NEW 360 subscription cards at best buy... or at least the ones in mississippi you can.....

there will be cheating with halo 3.... they're just gonna pay out the ass to do it.

there was modding with halo, halo 2, the original xbox, and the 360 even looks cooler when modded, like a p.c. with plastic windows nad stuff (seen pics on the net... never done it) it will probably be coded better but there is always one guy determined to crack the code

and there will be a ranking system, dont know what that love hippie up there was talking about.

well no ones found a way to mod the 360 yet and the 360 is to expensive for them to try, and people still cheat in games like star wars, just for fun though. and they ban the whole box if you try to cheat, my friend tried to somehow add gamerpoints to his score through a computer, then a message came up saying he broke the user agreement and he had to buy a whole new xbox 360.

if bungie comes up with a way to instantly ban players, or makes a very different rank system, cheating should decrease.

To play or not to play....

Unfortunately cheating will always exist. No matter what you do someone will find a way to misuse it. if that be in the form of hacks, some funky combo, or any other number of things the fact remains it will probably happen.

Cheating sux the big one no doubt about it. Unfortunately you can't stop it as per say. The best we can hope for is that Bungie make it as hard as possible to cheat. From what little information I have it seems it will be hard to cheat in Halo 3.

Simple solution. One cheat = Ban for life. Make everyone understand that and make them understand it good. At least if they do cheat they will not do it for long. Then they can plead their case with the admin.

no

  • 07.08.2006 8:40 PM PDT

a new patch makes it so when you mod, your 360 will automaticly overheat and DIE.

Bungie will never get a hold of cheating, because they just don't know how. They would have stopped it in this game if they were able to.

I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

I doubt it, but it wouldn't be as bad as Halo 2's cheating problems thanks to Microsofts new player feedback system.

Microsoft should sue Cheaters!

Yeah uh guys, you forgot one thing.

Currently almost nobody has been able to mod a 360 beucase microsoft but clue over the chip so that you cant remove it without destroying the xbox. A group of modders spent weeks on one trying to mod it, and couldnt get it to work.

Modders are modders.. I believe installing a modchip and replacing parts of an Xbox is actually reverse engineering, which is illegal... But uh, hey, what do I know?

I think Bungie will incorporate their current anti-cheating measures at the release of Halo 3, to at least stop most of it.. As for the 360, I was also under the impression that you could not go onto Live with modded content.
