I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

Your like my sub bus driver, an -blam!- and really really old.

A Pelican in multiplayer. That would kill on big maps of Halo 2, so we need some bigger maps. MAybe a redition of Metropolis or Quarentine Zone? The Bridge would have interesting fights, maybe put in sub levels onder the bridge, actualy mini builidnings ontop of the things that support the beams, etc. With bridges to connect those.

Interesting. That would call for boats too.

You face an opponent who has never known defeat, who laughs in foreign tongues at your efforts to survive. This is Reply suicide.

"Oh Molly Connoly ruined my life, I thought the world should know."
Say Anything - Every Man Has A Molly

I think the reasons people want a Pelican in Multiplayer ARE quite interesting, but also good ones.

We want our own Human flight vehicle.

The Covenant now have a lot more vehicles than we do.

We have the Scorpion and the Warthog.

Covenant have the Spectre, Ghost, Banshee, and Wraith (as well as a few vehicles in Campaign that we can't jack, but only destroy).

A vehicle was even added to the Covenant to simulate our Warthog. So where is our answer to the Banshee or even the Ghost, now? Our answer to the Ghost used to be the Warthog, but now the Covenant have an equivalent of it, so we need a new answer to the Ghost.

We also have a desire to participate in a truly LARGE and EPIC battle. Either in Campaign or multiplayer. Who wouldn't want an epic battle in multiplayer? It would be cool.

We were largely disappointed at the "epic" and "large" battles in the Halo 2 Campaign. They didn't feel large. They didn't feel epic or exciting. They felt like "just another battle to get through before I can get to a cutscene... Maybe I'll jack this ghost and skip through it". Even our vehicle battles sucked.

And in some of the areas where the battles COULD'VE BEEN epic... We had craptacular AI and invincible Covenant Dropships to hinder the real battle. Once you realize an enemy (who can shoot back at you) is invincible (as well as that it'll stick around to shoot at you, just because) the fun factor drops by about 10 points. Fighting invincible enemies isn't cool or fun.

I remember countless times wanting to call in a few Longsword Fighters to take out the dang Covie dropships because they were more annoying than anything. All they did was force you into cover when you could've been fighting a sweet and epic battle.

It didn't even feel like the Covenant was throwing everything they had at us!

So, we want to have such an experience in multiplayer.

We want to be able to call in a Pelican for support or blast one out of the sky, full of the enemy team. We want to be able to make more than a simple ground based operation. We want some air support that is NOT a banshee.

And just think, it would be cool to airlift a vehicle out into the midst of battle, so you don't have to go back to your base to get one.

Though, if we're having a Pelican, we should have the Phantoms too.

I like the idea of a Pelican introduced into the Multiplayer battles... But I don't think Bungie would have any clue as to how to do it effectively, to make it fun, and to balance it out with other gameplay. You know, make it a support vehicle instead of an attack vehicle. After all, it's a DROPSHIP.

I support the idea, but I have confidence it won't happen. Especially since a lot of the multiplayer stages we have that are HUGE... Are also too open to allow a Pelican to get anywhere without attracting a lot of fire.

For MP we just need bigger maps.Like what I suggested.

OR if there are any Custom edition fans out there, a remake of Hugeass.

As much as I enjoy this idea I feel that it will become what the human tank is live as of now. It is not on any maps by default (well mabye 1 or so) and seems to only be used in custom game types people play with their friends.

I support the idea of pelican's in mp, and that I agree, the maps should be larger. That's all. But with the idea of a pelican, I shall type something else introducing a new idea to aerial combat.

Map: New Mombasa City
Gametype: Single Life Assault
Team Setup: Spartans Versus Elites

You start up as a Spartan. A buddy picks up the bomb, while another ally runs inside a pelican for the pilot's seat. You hop in, along with the bomb guy, and two other friends. As the pelican leaves the ground, you hear a faint whizzing. Banshees! Your pilot speeds up into the city warzone, flying fast. The banshees catch up, opening fire. Your buddy steps up into the turret and fires at the banshee while you shoot from your seat. Suddenly, a locked on rocket smashes into the turret. Your ally falls out of the pelican, his head bobbing and arms swaying as he smashes into the bloody concrete. Another rocket smashes into the left wing, and you shake up with some damage. As the pelican flies by, it nearly crashes into a skyscraper. The banshees still are hammering the pelican, so you throw a beautiful plasma grenade and it hits a banshee. The elite hops out of the banshee, rather taking chances with a long drop. As he hits the ground, the other banshee flies low. The Elite taps X and beautifully hops on the side of the banshee for a ride! Hanging on the wing, the banshee flies up. You see the elite and fire at it, and it fires back at you. But the banshee ascends higher and flies above the pelican. In an instant, you hear a clank... The elite is ontop of the pelican. The pilot frantically sways back and forth, but he can't be stopped. Suddenly, the cockpit flies open and the driver is tossed out. (This is a death rather than just being jacked. C'mon, who could live through that?) Who is piloting the ship? You get up from your seat and from the interior of the pelican, you look to the bomb buddy, frantically turning and considering leaping onto a skyscraper. While hot plasma from a banshee ruins the pelican's green paint job, the elite hops into the driver seat. You get up and walk to the interior. A cold barrel touches the elite's upper jaw as you press on the trigger, killing the elite instantly. You turn the pelican back to it's present course and fly low. The enemy base! BOOM! Another rocket slams into the pelican and pieces of the pelican begin flying off. A large part of the wing flies backwards and slams into the Banshee, immediately causing it to explode. (Cool physics!) You can't keep it in the air any longer, so you go for a landing. Crash! Your pelican skids onto the road and straight into the small building used as a covenant command center. The bomb guy hops out, and you do as well, climbing out of the back. You scramble to your feet and turn left and right, an elite opens fire with a plasma rifle, while you introduce you're buddy, the Submachine gun. After barely surviving the battle, the bomb guy plants the bomb.

Some words flash across your screen.

New Objective: Escape the Explosion Radius!

A target appears on your screen. Apparently, this bomb is planning on knocking out a chunk of Mombasa controlled by the covenant slime. You quickly run out the door along with the bomb guy. Turning left and right, you stare at a fresh banshee. You hop in the driver seat and your buddy plants himself on the wing of the banshee. As you accelerate into the air, you cheer. Nothing can stop you! You are going to win! You slowly come back to reality and cheer on your Xbox Live mic. But you hear a familiar sound. A locked on rocket heads right for you. Your buddy on the wing, aims his smg and begins firing at it. It explodes in mid-air as he hits it, the blast taking out your buddy's shield and damaging the wing he was sitting on. Your banshee creaks with damage and can hardly sustain the heavy weight of Mjolnir armor. Suddenly, a sniper shot slams into the side of your banshee and you swurve left and right. Another sniper shot hits the wing on wich your buddy is sitting on. The wing pops off and he drops out of the sky, arms flailing. Dead. You are the last spartan left on your team. The elite has a decent shot, and you see your finish line ahead. He locks on his last rocket. Pshoo! It heads straight for you. As it is about to make lethal contact, you pull a beautiful aerial backwards roll and the rocket flies slowly off course into the sunset. You hear an explosion as you get closer to your finish line. Using your rear view, you see a large explosion spreading around the area. As the flames of the explosion grasp at your banshee (which is heated by the explosion) you speed past the escape zone and cheer. Suddenly, a male announcer says, "Round 2."

The Pelican could be a good vehicle for larger maps, however I think that there would have to be a minimum of 20 players to make it worth the effort.

While the implication of large flying vehicles into multiplayer, with them being used as troop transport/assault/bombing aircraft, would definitely be revolutionary and badass, it would have to be done in such a manner as to not create substantial drops in framerate and consistency.
