I am going to be getting a new computer soon, and I want to be able to play Halo on it.
But, I have no idea what kind of graphics card it should come with.
There is a list of supported graphics cards on Microsoft, but I don't think those have been updated in a while.
Any recommendations for a graphics card or computer would be really helpful.

I saw that and I thought it might be a good choice, but I have no idea what graphics card, processor, or memory is needed for Halo PC.

I reccomend making a custom computer, it costs less and get better parts.

Here is a site to help you out: http://www.newegg.com/home/Computer.asp

Prices are pretty cheap on there.

I don't know if I have the patience to build my own computer.
I just need to know what graphics card I should use.

It took me about 2-3 hours to build my computer.

Some Americans spend 6-8 hours a day watching TV anyways, so just build it.

You have a valid point, but I still don't know what graphics card I would need.

Get a good mid-range card, like the GeForce 6800.

Hm...a good midrange card is good for all types of games, and not just for Halo, a rather...dare I say it? outdated game.

I would recommend googling it, you should turn up several websites better equipped to telling you how to build a computer than this one.

There's also a link in The Guides sticky to a thread about how to build a decent custom PC...that might be helpful as well.

neither both suck.
Thank you for being so incredibly helpful.
Next time you want to post, don't post like an idiot.
If you are going to say both of them suck, then at least have the courtesy to say what doesn't suck.

you didnt ask me to post a better one, you asked me out of those two whihc one you should pick i answered. and for future reference dont call someone that might help you an idiot.

dont be an ass.

if you paid $900 for a computer it had better have come with atleast a 6800.
But you didn't answer my question. You just gave your own opinion. And if your opinion is that they both suck, you should at least have given some hint as to what I should get. So thanks for doing that at least.
And the only reason I called you an idiot is because you didn't help me.
And you were the one being an ass.
And I haven't gotten a computer yet.

Here, find a computer that atleast has 256mb video card, maybe 512mb by a thing called "SLI' only avaiable with nVidia video cards. I know some Dells have that. You arn't going to get a gaming computer cheap and if you do you will need to constantly upgrade your hardware.

Why would I need to constantly upgrade it?

becuase computers are not like consoles, new stuff is coming out every 3 months, not every 4-5 years like on the console side.
I can understand the need to constantly update it if you are going to be getting tons of new games, but if you just keep the games you have, why would you need to update it all the time?

You guys could at LEAST be helpful to the guy, god. I only see 1 or 2 helpful posts.

killervenom47, Although I don't recommend prebuilt, it seems like you'd rather own a working computer than risking having a bunch of expensive plastic laying around, and that's OK.

The Dell system you are looking at, the XPS 200, is a good system, and is Vista ready and can run almost every game on the market today. The graphics card is something to worry about though.

Which one should I get?

Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 950
128MB PCI Express x16 ATI Radeon™ X600 SE

Intel Graphics are integrated, meaning they use system memory (RAM) and most likely will slow your games down dramatically. The ATI x600se is a much better buy, no matter what. It shouldn't be more than $75 to upgrade it. Id take it.

And you guys, he clearly wants to play current-gen games, which this computer is perfectly capable of doing. If he doesnt want to play FEAR with Anti-Analyzing at full at a resolution of 1600x1200, then why does he need a computer that can or that can upgrade to it?

With the current GPU setup, the ATI PCIe x600se, he can upgrade any time he feels to a better GPU. Its PCIe, after all.

The computer you want to buy is good, and will probably even play H2Vista. Please Ignore all these people who don't even have proper grammar.

If you need any more advice, gimme a buzz on xfire. My user name is "hellblazer970"

Ill check this thread if you don't have xfire :)
