You face an opponent who has never known defeat, who laughs in foreign tongues at your efforts to survive. This is Reply suicide.

Cooperative is just a way to go through the game with another player. It changes up the gameplay and adds replay value. Cooperative is a FEATURE.
I like FEATURES, but I don't demand they be "realistic".
In PDZ, making the other player one of the people who was around was rather stupid. It didn't make much sense in most of the levels. For instance, in the stake-out level... Chandra is supposed to be on the boat, waiting to retrieve them. But somehow, on cooperative, she ditches the boat (who knows where that went?) and joins Joanna on the mission. Stupid.
Playing in this fashion also means that EVERY level had to have at least ONE helpful character of yours in it. Like Jonathan or Chandra, or even a regular soldier (like in the case of Mission 12).
I like cooperative just the way it is. It has been so good that I haven't questioned why there were two Arbiters in Halo 2 or why there were two Master Chiefs in Halo 1 and 2. It just didn't matter much to me, because it's a feature. It's not the actual game, it's just a feature to increase replay value and to let you play with your friend (because cooperative games are awesome).
If they decide to change it up for Halo 3, it won't bug me... But I do hope that if they change it, you get the colors and the looks of your "character model" instead of the green that you start with.
