Sorry if old.
From OXM: Bungie: "You can count on the broader, more exploratory feel folks enjoyed in the original Halo, but the pace of Halo 3 is something we're exited and protective about keeping close to our chest. Our levels can include visual geometry up to - and beyond - 14 game 'miles', and that's something we really want to use for both atmosphere and gameplay."
This is great news, so I guess Bungie really does somewhat listen to their fanbase. (Thank god they don't listen to all of us)

This is great news because not only does this mean that there won't be many repetitive, boring, linear, indoor levels, but it also means that, when you are outside (which should be a lot), you are going to see amazing graphics with a very nice draw distance. I Can't wait for this game from a purely technical standpoint.

Really. People must like being uninformed.

It's good news. Hopefully concepts will be reminisce of the original too.

The reason this doesn't get many posts on the Halo 3 forum is because there is no way to flame it. That repels 99% of the 10 year olds. The other 1%, as well as every other age group replies. More topics like this, please :-)

I'm talking about how he said 99% of the people are 10 year old flamers while the other 1% are the good ones.

It's probably because people figure, for posts like this, "Hey thanks, nothing to say from me." Basically, I'm sure at least as many people worry about this, but the "conspiracy" threads actually give you something to discuss, whereas this just gives you information that most people will understand and not bother replying to.

Basically, the "conspiracy" posts are more like debates, whereas this is more like a lecture, if you understand the difference. I hope that helps.

I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

If the games invornment are gonna be that large, imagine how big the battles are gonna be!!!!!!

This is great news!!!

But I do remember in the OXM June 2004 issue Bungie stated that invorenments in Halo 2 were gonna be 8 times the size of "Assualt On The Control Room", and we all know how that turned out.

This is great news. One thing I didnt like about Halo CE or Halo 2 was the repetitive narrow hallways, and small rooms. Everything doesnt need to be outdoor, just make sure when it is indoor not everything looks the same. Make every room unique and full of different objects.

And it's also very possible that there may be some enormous indoor environments.

This is pretty cool news. I can just imagine some killer battles and options for tackling them since you'll have so many directions to attack from.

  • 07.09.2006 9:28 PM PDT

I hope the sniper rifle is accurate up to at least 12 miles. ;)

Environment.

Anywho, this is great news, that's for sure! I felt like Halo 2's campaign mode was so boxed in, and offered very little variety as far as the eyes go. What I loved about Halo was that even though you couldn't, you felt like you could go anywhere- there was a whole world to explore out there. I'm loving this idea of draw distances of up to 14 miles that will be INCLUDED in gameplay. Hopefully this will make for some epic encounters.

This is the most useful post I have seen in this forum so far, with the possible exception of the one about latency. Nice one.
