The Frozen Minority - The most infamous clan borne from the Seventh Column.

I have no idea, it still has to be compatiable with all televisions including PAL-50 models.

Have you seen the halo 1 framerate? It's still insanely awesome. As long as it stays above 15 and around 24 I'm good.

30 is standard now, but holy crap, 60 would be insanely awesome (notice how hardly anyone knows what you're talking about).

It should be just the right framerate to cause migraines and seizures.

The framerate really doesnt matter a long as the game runs at the correct framerate it will be inpercievable.

Above 24 FPS the human eye can't really tell the difference. 360 games are supposed to be held to a standard of 60fps though. It's an in-house game, so who knows?

Really? I thought Oblivion ran at 30fps, oh well, anyway, I think it should run at 360fps, for unknown reasons.

60 is standard for most games. Between 15-24fps you can see the difference. I personally don't like 30fps, that's why no matter when I play Prey I end up with a headache. Being capped at 30fps, any slowdown will be very noticable on any game.

Oblivion may peak at 60, but isn't constant. It drops down to 15 when riding a horse at times.

Ok, becuase of the many oblivios people in here. I will elaborate on what frames per second is. Even though it really speaks for itself.

Frames per second are how many frames are displayed on the screen per second. So in a 60fps game, 60 frames are displayed per second.

The human eyes take pictures at a high rate, and the mind fills in the blank spots to make your vision smooth rather than a bunch of flashes. This can also trick the eyes into seeing something that isnt real. TV's, Movies, and games all use this principle to create the illusion of a solid stream of video, when what is actually happening is pictures are scrolling across the screen at a higher rate than your eyes can percieve.

Your mind is tricked and it fills in the blank spots. That is why sometimes a game will lag behind. This means that the fps has dropped, and your eyes can now percieve the time between each frame.

PC games can run at fps rates of 100 or more, some games even have a console command called fps_max to limit fps rates.

Everyone should know what he is talking about, we are all using PC's here, aren't we (Macs suck)? Anyone that doesn't know what framerate is is pathetic. Thirty minimum, please. Oh, and PC's are teh r0xx0r over teh sux Macz0r.

As long as it stays constant you wont really notice. Its when it starts making jumps from 60 to 15 that you notice the framerate. I bet it will be a pretty smooth game though, the graphics are good, but they dont seem to be extremely pushing the 360's limits, so I expect pretty constant throughout. We have to remember these games are in the early generation of the 360's developement, so they haven't figured out all the ins and outs yet. Just look at Generation 1 xbox compared to last generation xbox games. Also remember that Bungie always delivers a step above other game companies (compare Halo 1 or 2 to any game during its time period), and compared to really how good some of these -blam!- companies are making games look on the 360, I can only imagine what Bungie will do.

It may actually have crap rates even if not pushing the 360's limits. Why? Inefficient engines can be a problem. Bungie has so far done excellent in the engine department, so I expect them to continue.

Well, I would want all games not just Halo 3 to have above 30 FPS while limiting at 60 FPS....

If you play any game with +80 FPS, oh my you're going to get quite the headache......

Halo 1 on Xbox had a cosntant framerate of 30 FPS, I dunno what Halo 2 was at, but I guess it was at 30 FPS too. Any average PC gamer can tell you the difference between 30 FPS and 100 FPS.

P.S. - I really like Half-Life 2, but the high framerates gives me headaches, does anybody know the console command to limit the FPS?

The 24 FPS rule only applies to film in theaters. This is because the lighting in theaters and the projected light apply an "afterimage" to your eyes that makes anything over 24 FPS wasted.

The human eye can't actually detect anything over 72 FPS. Anything over 72 FPS is a waste. However, if it drops below 72 FPS, the difference is glaring. To top that, standard TV's only refresh at a rate of 60 FPS. This means that anything over 60 FPS in games, movies or TV shows is a waste.
