While playing Halo 2, I had a thought. Since quitting is a big problem, what if in Halo 3, if you wanted to quit, your team would have to vote to see if you could quit. Like if they weren't helping the team too much, it wouldn't matter, but if they were getting a lot of points, you could keep them in. This is just something I made up a few minutes ago. What do you think?

A. How would they vote in the middle of a match without being extremely distracting?
B. If the team doesn't allow them to quit, then they could begin team killing and killing themselves.
C. A better solution, if someone quits then their level goes down a level. Then de-levelers would quit at the beginning of the game (which would suck) but the match would be 3 on 4 and the shortsided team would still have a chance to win. The de-levelers would lose their level quicker that way, so you wouldn't have to play a whole game with someone killing themselves.

Um, if I turn off my XBox 360, then the vote doesn't really matter, does it?

Yeah, I just randomly thought some things. Come to think of it, it is kind of a dumb idea...

So what happens if that person needs to attend a thing I call life. Everybody votes no then they just keep getting killed and losing points for the team, for say a phone call or lunch.Think about it ? just let them quit.

My idea would be to get rid of rankings all together. You don't have to worry about de-levelers when there's nothing to de-level, right?

Behold the power of the ethernet cable... Nothing stops someone from pulling their cable. You cant vote on that.

Besides... Bungie has mentioned they have a plan to manage quiters this time around.

people would just turn off their consoles if they wanted to quit this wouldnt solve anything

  • 07.10.2006 7:01 AM PDT

I say no deleveling, because you really don't go down in skill ever you just have bad games or play awesome teams. If they're was no option to go down in rank people wouldn't get as upset about losing.

Achronos replied in a similar thread that they are preparing something to solve the quitting problem, so they already have a solution.

I think the time penalty is the best idea I've heard so far. So when you quit, you'd have to wait a short amount of time before you could enter MM again. If you did it again, this time would increase. So anyone who has to go and do something wouldn't be affected, only people who go from game to game quitting every time they go a few kills down or lose a round etc.

I don't know if this is what you mean, but they could just hide the ranks. I think there should be ranks or at least some way the game knows what level a player you are. That way, you get paired with people the same skill as you. I really don't care if I see why rank or not.

"My knee is bleeding, can I have a bandaid?" "Today its your knee, and in 10 years it'll be your wrists, why are you making this my problem?"

Do this again and I'll brand your ass with the banning prod

What if people have to quit because of a emergency, or if they have to go to work? Some people have better things to do you know, losing a rank because you have to leave is bull-blam!-.

Emergencies I understand, but if a person knows they will be leaving soon for work, then why don't they just play a training game. If it's a nonranked game, then they won't lose anything if they have to quit.

What a dumb idea. If you kept them in and they wanted to quit they'd just go and grab some cheetos while the rest of you finished the game.

Not necessarily. They could be pickled onion flavour Monster Munch.

I agree with this guy, pretty good ideas, but I think there should be a better way of dealing with delevers, rather than just giving them what they want, maybe ban them for a week if they have a negative score?

And while we're at it, lets not make a halo3 to get rid of cheating, glitches and modding! Thats like saying the best way to get rid of drunk drivers is to stop making vehicles.

I agree. If you really need to quit, there won't really be a penalty, but if you quit cause your not winning, your penalized.
