Goddammit!? What the freaking hell!? What happened to Johnny Orcface's posts?! They were all deleted! I never triple posted! Thank you again Bungie.net Forums for acting crazy and randomly deleting people's posts!

Not only that, DC, but I'm typing this from my laptop, not my desktop PC which isn't booting up, otherwise this thread wouldn't exist. (So stfu next time you try to contradict me, DC Spartan.)

Anyway, I have something horrible to say. I contacted the Geek Squad at Best Buy and they told me they would do a diagnosis on it earlier today, and later they told me that the power surge from hell fried my power supply unit, and messed up my hard drive and my RAM, all in one shot.

They said it would cost something over $400 to replace all the parts. That's more than I got for the computer off of eBay!

My PC is on life-support, and I don't have enough money for the operation. :(

My father says we'll buy a new PC instead, but for my current desktop...

Rest in peace.

Did you just not read my last post?

EDIT: Also, DC, "definant" is not a word. If you're trying to imitate me to make me look like a hypocrite, what I usually say is "self-explanatory" edit button right there, and that "it's quite obvious", but I don't make up words and put them in my sentences.

MasterKim, wow, all fried, such a terrible fate for your computer, but at least its gone yet, its only the hard drive, ram and psu, not the cpu and gpu, be thankful for that.

So I was right. Because he was blacklisted, his posts were deleted, and at the beginning of this thread I replied to all his posts so when his posts disappeared, it appeared as though I triple posted. Told you, DC. :P

(This isn't the first time stupid crap like this has happened before. So don't call me or refer to me as a hypocrite if it appears I posted more than once in a row.)

Adding to that, why would he in his 2nd post ask about Dr. Orcface?

It doesn't make sense.

Think before you post, or you're an idiot.

Well, I guess this means that I can't play Halo PC for a while. And America's Army. And Warcraft III. And all my other PC games. And I have so many pictures and files stored inside my hard drive too.

Not to mention my copy of Halo is still in the disk drive. :/

Geez, Kim. Sucks to hear it. But now you've got an excuse to buy/build a brand new PC!

Does your computer not start up?

Have a question about Tech Support?

Do you have stuck pixels?

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

Dude Kim, before you buy another PC, first, try booting with only one stick of memory. Try all the sticks individually. If that doesn't help, there is a strong possibility your PSU is dead or it detects a short and simply won't turn on due to the built in protections. Make absolutely sure you don't have a hanging fan wire or something that is shorting out the system. After all that, I would replace the PSU and hope it was a dead PSU. No need to replace everything just yet.

But we already know that the PSU is totally dead. A power surge is what took it out, along with the RAM, and I think it did something with the hard drive. To repair all that to make it what it once was would be expensive, so my father just decided we should buy a new computer.

What I think we should do instead is make our own using some of the parts that are still salvagable from our PC. I mean, I've got a GeForce 6600 and a Pentium 4 with 3.20 GHz in there.

What I am really worried about is all the stuff that's been stored in the hard drive. Countless photos, game files, maps, videos, programs...

Check prices on e-bay for what you need to fix it.

Can PCs have multiple Hard drives? If so, you may be able to put the old drive in a new computer, or if you fix the old one, you may be able to get the old drive mounted long enough to salvage the data you want from it.

And get a good surge protector. We had a surge following a blackout. My computer was fine, but my microwave got zapped and it also started a fire in the wiring in the basement when power was restored. I had a good surge protector on the computer.

Thanks for the advice, SimonJester. Got to tell my father about surge protectors.

And yes, PCs can have multiple hard drives. I believe some of the top-of-the-line PCs have around 300 gigabytes.

im afraid im gonna have to confiscate your testicles.

What are you, the Cyber police? lol.

DC stands for something which you wouldnt understand so you can stfu :). Plus I dont think it would be much of a problem to use 400$ to fix your PC, you probably have more than that type of money leading to why you have a laptop and your father buying you another PC.

Hey, the laptop is not mine. This desktop PC which I am happy to say has been fixed and brought back to life by a power supply unit transplant which I am posting from right now is mine.

Yes, it's true. My father knows a friend who works with computers, and we just gave him around fifty dollars and he gave us a PSU to replace our dead one, and everything is fine. Everything seems in place, I still have 1 gigabyte of fully functioning RAM and nothing seems out of place with my memory. Seems quite odd that the Geek Squad stated that a price of around four hundred dollars was necessary to even replace all the damaged parts of my PC. Take that.

However, there is one minor quirk. When my PC shut down and I couldn't get it started up a few days ago, I had my Halo disk inside. Today when we opened up the drive - there was no CD! We're assuming the Geek Squad at Best Buy has it, and we're going tomorrow to get it. Fat lot of good those guys did us.

Good to hear your back up and running at a reasonable price.

Let 'em have it over at best buy.

Sorry I couldnt help you earlier, I just recently started posting again, and you had already taken it in to best buy at that point.
