Boss Battles suck. They just don't fit in to Halo. It's one of the biggest reasons I preferred the Halo 1 campaign.

Dodging tentacles? Have you ever played Ninja Gaiden? I can't help but to see that part of the game when Ryu first saves Rachel...

It's awesome in Ninja Gaiden...I just can't see the Chief doing it. I like the idea-if it weren't for Gaiden doing it first. There fore, I say no because it would feel like a total rip.

P.S. Buy it, Play it, Love it.

I'd say big Bttle. Like one where you fire a shot and you almost always hit something. Besides, Bosses seem a bit to "Mario-ish" for me.

Big battle yes, about the mario thing it would be rather amusing to see the MC jump on some dudes head, you know to see if any coins do come out :)
But still big battle where the MC is trying to stop the world from blowing up, but can't make it in time and the earth blows up... and the MC dies, that would be cool.

I'd like to see battles like the 'task missions' on Kameo. If you're unfamiliar, bear with me...

In Kameo, you progressed through different elements on the main questline. At certain points in time, you would have to return to a central location of the environment, where thousands of enemies were doing battle with thousands of ally soldiers. As Kameo, you could choose to help your allies as much or as little as you liked, only being required to engage in battle with enemies preventing you from completing your objective (bomb incoming enemy ships, fire catapults, repair machines, etc.)

I would love to see something like this in Halo 3. Perhaps, in between certain levels, a communcation chimes in:

"Cheif, we're under heavy attack in NYC! We need you to demolish the Brooklyn Bridge, and collapse the Holland tunnel to keep the covenant reinforcements out!!"

From there, cheif is extracted from the linear mission, dropped in the middle of a huge battle in NYC with marines and bad guys doing battle everywhere. The only thing you HAVE to do is complete the two objectives, but...if you want to help your allies kick some covie but on your way, more power to you.

A big battle for sure, bosses are too cliche abd dull.

Look at Tartarus, just horrible, now look at the Maw, just terrific!

Boss battles are the absolute WORST thing about games.

Except for Lylat Wars :)

Halo was great because it had NONE! (Although it did have one timed mission - I hate them too).

Halo 2 had boss battles, which really sucked me out of thr Halo feel. Very dissapointed- I'd like to see huge battles ala 'final run' times ten.

Gotta go with a boss battle, because it requires a great deal more skill and ingenuity then would be required in a big battle. Battles compose most of halo, fighting wave of Cov and flood, and I'm sure bungies going to include some huge battles throughout the game, but having a boss adds a aspect that really helps conclude a level

In Halo 2, we had three boss fights each requiring a seperate strategy to beat each boss. I loved beating the prophet, and playing against tarturus in the final battle on legendary was certianly one of the most challenging aspects ever put into a halo game.

PLus, lets face it, MC and the ARB versus gravemind in the end... sweett..

Wrong!! It involves non-intuitive (and boring) repetition of a specialized tactic which bears no relation to the game which has preceded it, and often contradicts everything you have learned in the game so far.

I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

Technicly The Maw was a Boss battle, you had to destroy The Ring!

I agree. I want a battle that involves tactics. "If I flank them while ....goes that way, what happens?" I want to be able to take different paths through the same large scale battle that effect it the battle itself. (not the outcome)

WRONG WRONG WRONG.... go put a thong on, cuz you're so wrong. We're talking about fighting a stronger enemy who tends to have only one or two weaknesses to expose and take advantage of. Fighting battle after battle against the same elites and grunts and flood is a hell of alot more boring and repititive. Theres no contradiction... you're learning how to fight a tougher, more challenging enemy. You learn from each more difficult enemry you face. Boss battles helped to even out the game and provide more challenging aspects. You're just pissed cuz you couldn't beat tartarus on easy, left alone legendary.

I will say that the Halo 2 bosses defiently weren't as good as they could of been... they should make them more challenging and include the use of more weapons, so you can use more of the tactics and skills learned throughout the game... such as against tarturus, where you needed Johnson to shoot his shields down... we should of been the ones doing that and we should of been required to knock his shields out by hitting a small area where his shields generate from, requiring sniping skill. Then you gotta stick the bastard, another skill.

Also, the original Halo had three boss battles. First was the first Elite you faced with a sword... which required pretty much no skill because alll you had to do was sneak up on him.

Then there was destroying the Maw's reactor... not very hard, just shoot the rockets in the right holes, and then there was the race at the end, which was pretty sweeet, except it was way too repetitive. It should of ended with having to make a long and difficult jump across a chasim to find a juggernaut flood waiting on the other side.

Don't get me wrong though, I want big battles as well. I think the flow of the game should be small battle, a small boss (new brute leader, etc...), after getting inside the ark), then medim battle, then a medium boss (truth), and then a huge battle followed by the toughest boss of all... gravemind, the boss of all the flood.

IF and IF they do bosses, it needs to be a gold elite/Brute Captain. Someone who is tough to kill - not because they can take more hits - because they are smarter/use cover/more agile. I am still against bosses. That's just my thoughts on how it should be played out.

Battle's beat bosses in any way shape or form. I don't want to fight Grave mind. It would be way to much like Ninja Gaiden fighting the slimy monsters. Or like Worms Armageddon on Steroids.

Thats the way a big battle should be. You, the player, should have a specific task that you have to complete, and there are a bunch of aliens in your way. You can just run through, and not do anything about it, r you could kill as many as you can, and bust through to complete your objective. Either way, it should have either infinite or near infinite spawing enemies, until you complete your objective, and then you have to mp them up.
