Subject: Plasma weapon analization

Get with the times.
Purple - better than white, black, yellow (tan) and Afro-Americans combined - is the colour of the future.

Wow. Because this really matters.
Soo.. why do you care about the plasma weapons being reused so muhs?

i have a theory on how the plasma weapons work....

the two lights that you see on the plasma rifle and the plasma pistol work as electrodes, they produce a charge between each other. since i dont know much about plasma, im gonna guess that somehow a sort of projectile is fired between these two electrodes and is ignited creating a ball of plasma. im not sure what this projectile would be made of, especially since it can hold a larger charge for a longer amount of time in the plasma pistol. i also dont know about why the plasma weapons would overheat.

which brings me to another idea...
wouldnt it be possible to create a weapon where at the front end there are two electrodes that have a charge run through them igniting something like a bullet that releases a sort of gas that (when ignited) turns into a speeding ball of very hot shrapnel that can punch through vehicles more easily

doubt it, but its an idea

for the most part, since we (as halo fans) were told that we couldnt reload plasma weapons because nobody knew how, we thought that as the arbiter you should be able to. also, it would be pretty useful in combat situations where you cant get to another weapon (at least in the campaign playing on legendary)

Meh. If you're the Arbiter, you're usually fighting Flood anyways.

Human weapons > Flood.

"Dervish" is an unusual name for an Elite.

Some speculate that the Arbiter's name is "Orna Fulsamee".

As for the Covenant weapons, I'm picturing there'd be Forerunner energy cores lying around that 'liquifies' and conforms into the electrodes of the plasma weapon, recharging it of which piqued the MC or the Arbiter's curiosity of never before seen reloading of a energy weapon.

More likely is that the lower-level weapons, like the PP and PR, aren't meant to be reloaded, and really are one-use weapons, or as a previous poster said, they are "refilled" at special stations outside of the combat zone. However, the concept of a one-use weapon (note the double entendre) is so foreign to humanity that they assume there must be a way to reload the weapons, even though there isn't.

Just as a side note, I'd imagine that the Covenant would simply dispose of empty plasma weapons (the Sword sniper rifle are possible exceptions, as they are "higher ranking" weapons), as they aren't exactly efficient in other ways. See the ship layouts.

Hehe, silly humans.

Who says aliens had to make sense anyways? Heck, we don't even make sense talking to others of our own species half the time! The Covies don't have to think and act like humans because they aren't humans!

And just to add another thing. When the arbiter fights the Heritic Leader, its weird how the shots fired from his holographic clones woulf hurt you, since they are only holographic images.

Ok...Just a little something about the needlers--The big sentinel things(dont know what they're called) in Halo 2 (the ones that fire small explosive rounds and have shields) fire things that are like needler rounds. The only difference is that the sentinel thing's rounds are red, fire faster, and I think they do less damage. In contrast, the needler rounds are pink, travel slower, but do more damage. To me, it seems that the Covenant has more than perfectly copied this type of Forerunner technology, as they have been able to copy the technology of the homing needles, and even make it a suitable handheld weapon for infantry. A lot of Covenant technology comes from copying what the Forerunner have left behind. As far as how the needler tracks targets, I have absolutely no idea, but here are a few theories I have about it.
-The needler rounds are mysterious organic forms that can decipher what to track
-The needler rounds are heat-seeking( probably not since if you shoot them at fire, it doesn't track it ).
-The needler rounds are guided by the user of the weapon through some kind of neural interface ( maybe the actual weapon somehow sees what the user wants to neutralize and guides the rounds to the target from the gun via the neural interface ).
-The needler rounds are kind of like magnets, but instead of being attracted to metal, they are attracted to organic lifeforms ( meaning that the rounds are a kind of rock or mineral ).

I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

the arbiters name is Dervish

i kid you not
No it's not. That was going to be his "name" rather than "Arbiter" but they changed it. Look up "Arbiter" and "Dervish" in a dictionary.

Also, if you'd like to know what an Elite's name looks like, read the books or the booklets that come with the games.

1/6/2010- A day that will live on in infamy.

The Man in Black fled across the desert, the Gunslinger followed.

I have 2 things to say.

1) The Carbine in the descricption(sp) says that it shoots radioative rounds. Therefore it needs not be charged, just make a radioactive compound.

2)In the special eddtion Halo 2 instuction booklet,Im guessing its the Arbiter, describes everything. He says that even the Covenant do not know how to recharge the core, and when the core is empty,it should be disregarded as it is useless.

Dunno if its already been said but there,Im happy.

IF YOU READ THE BOOKS, they should do even more damage than Legendary. They should take like 3 shots. You read the part about the Hunters? That fuel rod shot is nasty.

There is another reason why the Covenant don't have much in the way of reloadable weapons and that isn't technological it's cultural.

Technology is a core tenet of power in the Covenant Hierarchy, thus allowing the Prophets to stay on top despite what seems to be a rather frail form. He who controls the technology, the ships and most importantly the weapons controls the fate of the galaxy.

Without the ability to recharge their weapons any rebellion would quickly lose the ability to fight. So for long as the Covenant must come back to the Prophet's faction for their weapons can be recharged the chances of rebellion are much less.

Maybe the Humans thought there might've been a way to reload it, but were mistaken.. Disposable weapons? Why not?

As for the Arbiter's name? He's "The Arbiter", they never revealed his name.
