That happened to me a lot when i had a computer virus. If you don't have one try reinstalling.

The game comes to make an exception when there is a lack of needed code. Such as if the game tries to refer to an animation that isn't there or a gametype is started but there aren't any netgame flags for it.

If it happens when you play sucky sucky PC, it typically means the map has been hacked. If it happens in Custom Edition then the map simply needs to have the appropriate data added.
