I think that in Halo 3 Xbox live should support 100 people (or even more!) on HUGE maps in all-out war matches. There would be Pelicans, Shadows, Phantoms, entire brigades of Scorpions, Wraith batteries, Headquarters, huge complexes accompanied by massive outdoor settings, entire cities of mass carnage, etc., etc., etc. It would be AWESOME!

Yeah, it might be cool, but then skill doesn't matter, it's just having the right amount of people and sheer numbers in one area to make a difference. That's what I don't like about CS:S and others like it.

Skill would matter, but people would be getting double (or more) teamed alot.

CS:S? Please be more specific...

CS:S = counter strike: source
but large scale battles, 100 would be a bit much, say 50 ppl that would be kinda cool...so long as it wouldn't make the game lag.....

ITs possible you just have to make REALLY big maps... like battlefield 2 big. The reason CS:S doesnt work is because they put 64 people in a tiny map and people just sprint to the bottle necks and get lucky with headshots until one team is the luckier. For Large scale battle to work.... you can't have shields, it has to be very quick deaths, like Marines vs. Some new covie more similiar to a Marine. The reason their has to be quicker deaths is so that one person can take on 3 or 4 by just being a good shot, getting 4 head shots = 4 deaths. Without this, these 3 or 4 people would all fire once, maybe twice before hes dead, technically only one should have to fire once to kill him in my situation, but you can actually take cover and pin an enemy down... because if they pop up they are dead.... they cant run like 20 ft closer to more cover and live through your fire.

Also if Bungie was to do large scale battles they should actually make it worth it, something new. Complete destructibility from all things to all buildings, ground and basically everything. Imagine standing on the outskirts of a city and just seeing one of the buildings collaps when a damaged pelican crashes into the side. Its possible to pull off with dedicated servers and maybe a much better netcode with no lag.... look at BF 2 and Joint Ops Escalation (150 Players)... both games have no lag for me ever.

I think Bungie could pull it off, but I dont think they would want to take the Halo games in that direction (right now, I think the outcry for a really good no holds bar FPS with massive amounts of players is just to much for Bungie to ignore after Halo 3, I feel they could do some really cool things with it, if only they would.)

i think it would be frickin sweet if they could.. i remember me talking with my friends on XBL for hours in a custom about stuff like this.. though.. i dont see it possible.. first theres the lag issue.. but can the 360 hold all that?

With really fast, dedicated servers, they could pull it off. 50 vs. 50. Really big map. Lotsa vehicles. Destructible environment. *foams at mouth* Now THAT would be a war. i also agree with the no sheilds thing. I mean, If I can play 8 vs. 8 on Halo PC on a dedicated server with a dial-up connection, and almost no lag, They could definently pull this off.

Just imagine a map like 2 or 3 times the size of backstab (bf 2:m c) with 64 players. You're sneaking through the underground tunnels and make your way to the enemy base. You quickley snach the flag and head for the awaiting pelican. You get inside along with 5 other teamates and the pilot and gunner. As you fly through the sky the gunner spots 2 oncoming banshees. As he warns you about the banshees you feal the pelican shake violently when a rocket hits the left wing. When your gunner is finished taking down the banshees he sees a rocket following. Right before it hits you your pilot screems to evacuate the pelican. You jump out right as the rocket hits. When you hit the ground you take cover in a small patch of trees. You see three enemys walk past and as soon as they're out of hearing range you call for a warthog. When help arrives you get in right as the gunner gets sniped out of the turret. You tell the driver to punch it. When you arrive at you base you notice that your own flag is gone. With 15 people guarding you and the rest searching for the flag. They acknowlege the team that they found him then return the flag. You score it. Then your off try it again.

While it would be fun, it would not be halo. I would say no more than 24 players, although with games like Huxley coming out, we know it would be possible for 360 to support.

Anything over 16 players would not work with Match Making. Bungie would have to use dedicated servers.

"Were it so easy?"

Still waiting for the day to see Ling Ling's head.

Halo is good because its so free you can do anything you basicly want. 30 people still is a large amount of people. I dont want to have to stick to a single roll the whole game. I want to be driving a Hog then suddenly pick up a sniper and become a sniper. I hope Bungie will keep the game play the same. If you want to truely drive Pelicans and Longswords ect. go play Halo: Costum Edition.

  • 07.11.2006 12:49 AM PDT

I think a bump to 24 to change things up a little would be cool. I don't see any reason to have massive games. It is hard enough to coordinate in a 4 v. 4 game.

Now that I think about it, having to wait for 50 players would take a while. But, I suppose you could start when you get, say 16 people on each side, or however many you want. Now, imagine this: 50 player Free For All......
