I have recently started thiking about buying an xbox 360 for halo3. But then i began to think.

Should i get a new computer for Halo 2 Pc / vista ( because one i have now is not good enough.) Or go with xbox.
One of the reasons i want a new PC is so that i could be part of this amazing community still, becuase i figure that after halo2 vista comes out Halo 1 pc is dead(lol).
Or should i get xbox 360 and go for live?

Post our opinion please.

Depends, really. And...asking this question in an H1PC forum is the best way to get biased answers in favor of getting a new computer.

There are people who love computers. I'm talking the people who sleep with their computer tucked under their arm (I plead guilty to that, actually). They're the kind of users who want the absolute best in graphics and latest technology, the people who want free online play. These people want to play next gen games without waiting for the companies to release a new console. These are people who don't mind upgrading their computer, tinkering with OCing, etc, etc. These are people who rely on computers for Photoshopping, mapmaking, and other intensive apps.

Then, there are some people really don't like fussing around with installing 5 or so discs to play a simple freaking game. They'd rather just pop in a single disc and be done with it. Some people really hate worrying about whether or not their computer will be enough to handle this game at full specs. Some people don't really use their computer for much other than basic wordprocessing, email, iPod synching, and AIM, and don't really need a computer for much else other than that. These are the people who would benefit most from getting a console. They don't mind shelling out a few more bucks for convenience and ease-of-use.

So, what it comes down to is what kind of a person you are.

Personally, I'd get a 360. If you can get both before Halo 3 comes out, then I'd get the PC first, then the 360. But if you can only get one, until after Halo 3's release, go for the 360. Think about it, the ability to play Halo, Halo 2 and Halo 3, or just be able to play Halo 2 Vista? But, defiantely end up getting both

I would get the computer because computers are just as good (and probebly beater) as any consoleand because, for some unknown reson, I seem to be mentaly oposed to the Xbox. ;)

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

It depends upon what you want. A console is more friend oriented, meaning friends can come over and play, or you can play on Live. A PC is much more versitile, and suited for single (you) play.

Personally, I got a 360 recently and wasn't exactly blown away with the graphics. It's a small step up from a normal Xbox IMO, even connected to an HDTV.

Then again, you get what you pay for. My PC was many times the cost of the 360 so....

btw, this has nothing to do with Halo PC, but a good thread nonetheless. My major gripe is that the 360 will not play WMVHD discs ( a Microsoft format too).

But if you want to have your buddies over for a match of Tiger Woods '06, you can't beat it.

The few, the proud, the leet.

Personally, I'd get a new rig of hardware. Vista is comming out in January (80% Chance), so I'd expect H2V to be out a month or so after that. Most likely March or April.

It's really up to how you are. Can you map or can you just play maps? If you can just play maps, I say wait for the 360 to drop in price and buy it in anticipation of Halo 3. But if you can map and have mapped, I say go ahead and save up for a rig. That way you'll be able to start putting your work out the day you get a copy.

As with what some of you said, it depends on what kind of hardware you want for a PC.

Mid-Range PC, High-End Gaming PC or Ultra-High-End Gaming PC?

X8xx-AMD 64, X1000, 7xxxGT-AMD X2, 7xxxGTX-X1900xxx AMD FX

ALWAYS go for the PC. The 360 is nothing more than a hard drive in a pretty box. Although it is much less expensive than a computer, computers are better in many ways than a console.

What? Play a game? FOR FUN???
This concept of fun confuses and infuriates me!

Go with a PC. To be honest, the only reason I would ever bother with a 360 is just for Halo 3. Not worth spending 500 bucks for one game. Not at all.
After playing HPC for this short a time, and being around The Maw community and others, I've discovered that after the 13 years of playing console and handheld games, that I like PC gaming way better than console. Of course, thats going to change once the Revolution comes out(I REFUSE to call it "Wii"), for I will be busy playing games like Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Metroid Prime 3 Corruption, Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.. The good 'uns. I saw the H3 trailer. I thought to myself "My god. Its Halo 2, but shineyer!!". Well, its too bad that people like shiney more than gameplay... I admit, Halo PC would be a little better if I could actually see the bulletholes and blood. Because right now, without the bloody mess everywhere, its just another Teen rated game.
*Sigh*
I went off a little bit there, sorry. Go with PC.

It's not that I hate 360s, but really, get a PC. we may not have Halo 3, yet, but you can do so much more! FREE online play (Unless you are playing a stupid game *Cough WoW Cough*) and music managing, video production PC games and more. The whole console thing, get a 360 if you must, I'm getting a Wii. IN YO FACE!

They're both great. If you've got the money, go for the PC. If you've got less than the amount that it takes to buy a decent midrange PC, then the Xbox 360 should be good.

Also, there are alot of good games that are on the Xbox 360, and new ones that are coming out besides Halo 3. You've got GRAW (I love saying that, graw! GRAAAW! GRRARARARARARARAAAWWWZORS!), Gears of War, ES4: Oblivion, Lost Planet: Extreme Conditions... and Prey!

At heart I am a PC gamer. I think PCs are superior to consoles and always will be. Do you know how difficult it is to play a real-time strategy game or a MMORPG with a controller compared to the ease of a mouse and keyboard? And RTS is my favorite genre so the keyboard and the mouse fit me well when I'm ordering my archers to shoot down those Orcs in Warcraft III.

Being an owner of both a PC and 360,I personally have to recommend the 360,because you don't have to upgrade to play games(you have to buy a new HD if u run out of memory, but it takes a long time to run out),you get all of the games at high detail, and of course,Halo 3.But if you're looking for performance, buy a PC.But in my opinion, consoles are better than PC's,but PC's are still great.

Computer, it has all the awesome featues and also u dont need to pay for online play =).

Unless it's a MMORPG like World of Warcraft.

Also, Trigger, you're being shortsighted. From what you've told me while chatting with me over Xbox Live, your PC is pretty crappy, and not meant for gaming. You need to compare the Xbox 360 to mid-high range gaming PCs, and then you'll see that PCs own. Also, PCs have the ability to have much, much more larger hard drives (up to 150 gigabytes or so, if I'm not mistaken), and faster loading times and smoking-fast storage. You don't need to take pee-breaks while waiting for that new movie or game save to load or download.

But im deffinatly leaning towards pc right now for all the other thing i can do with it.
