Maw

You need more than that for Halo 3 forum, from what I hear.

The halo 3 forum would need every mod and there would be so many blacklistings that half the community would be gone....

The setup if fine the way it is I think.

Subject: 2 ninjas to a forum idea

There are 18 ninjas and 12 forums. So here is an idea i had first there needs to be 2 more ninjas than have 2 ninjas for each forum.
* ninja on fire and anton optimatch
* gamejunkiejim and shishka new mombasa
* Achronos and KP halo 3 forum
* stosh and chris septagon
* great pretender and yoozel classifeds
* NosferatuSoldie and maka underground
* goweb and skiptrace the maw
* dmbfan and toast library
* 2 new mods get the flood
* and frankie gets voteing booth and gallary cause few people post there one ninja can handle it
and i just the mods name next to any forum except ninja on fire and Achronos i had to leave ninja on fire in his home away from home and Achronos being the b.net overlord will need to make a lot of stuff clear about h3 and that should balance the forums i hope.

Strange evolution how people have come to believe

We're barely, we're just a collection of cells

I vote no. The mods are here on an unpaid, mod as you browse status. Not all mods are on at one time.

Example: Recon and GJJ are away for two weeks on vacation and they both moderate the Halo 3 forum. Can you imagine what would happen in two weeks time if H3 went un-moderated? Not a pretty site.

The system they have is fine. If it isn't broken, don't try to fix it.

The moderators don't have a select region to moderate. They moderate where they please. It states that in "the rules" in my sig.

No, because not all Mods are on at the same time. That means that one forum will be pristine while the others are in disarray...

I see no reason to change the system that's in place right now. This makes it easier to contact a moderator about spam because any one of them can moderate any forum. Also, Achronos and KP are not "moderators", and they have more important things to do than moderate in one forum.

  • 07.11.2006 1:13 PM PDT

Setting moderators to certain forums prohibits them from doing their jobs correctly. On top of that, those aren't all forum ninjas. Achronos cannot be tasked with the forums because his job is with the website's management. KPaul does news articles. Frankie has his stuff, etc.

The moderators themselves do a perfectly fine job combing the forums as they do currently, with whatever they see fit to change.

And anyone who is part of the bungie online team, bungie team, web tester, or anything else cannot be told to moderate forums because that isn't their purpose. Only emotional support can do that, and last i checked, they were rampant...a bit.

The mods do what they can. It would be too difficult to stretch them out like you're suggesting. Certain forums would get more moderating done than others. You plan would give low activity forums to much moderation and high activity forums to little moderation. Some forums would be a mess. Also, not all of the moderators are active. Maka hasn't been even signed on in about two months. Some of the people you mentioned aren't mods, but Bungie employees. They would not have the time to moderate. The moderators are volunteers and trying to force them to moderate isn't right.

I'm liking your math. You want 2 ninjas per forum. Theres 18 now and you want 2 more. theres 12 forums. Lets see if this works

18+2 = 20.
12*2 = 24.

I'm seeing no connection.

Also a bad idea. This isn't Invision Board. this is bungie.

I have a suggestion to keep you all occupied: learn to swim.

Designating ninjas to forums is like putting a lions in crayon boxes. You'll wind up with half-crazed maniacs soaked in their choice of color.

Why would lions be in crayons?

Believe it or not, but I think the moderators have lives. I don't think they are on b.net all day long. Therefore, if there were two of them that were to work the same forum had to go to work on the same days then it would totally conflict everything.

I thought this was a joke. 2 ninja to a forum idea. One ninja says to the other...

I found no such thing.

  • 07.11.2006 3:29 PM PDT

Are you trying to make Achronos doom us all? Putting him in the Halo 3 forum, he would overload and press the "doom world" button where his enter key is supposed to be.

No thanks. What happens if there's a huge spam attack in another forum? Do we just say "Oh... oh damn... Achronos and KP are sleeping... oh damn."

The fact of the matter is that with this "moderate whatever" system, when all the American mods are sleeping (ie. not me), I can spread myself all over the forums. At least keep it mildly in check so that nothing horribly bad happens. Staying on one forum (and the Classifieds to boot; no one does anything there) is just a bit silly.

So no!

The forums are like your mom, all the mods have a turn...

I forgot where I read that.....

yoo•zel- ('yoo-zhul): slang: vb.

Officium quod Fidelitas.

There is a very large flaw in your idea here. First off Frankie, KP, Achronos and Ninja On Fire are not Moderators. (Though because of NoF's job, yes he is required to spend more time online) Yes they do help out and assume the roll sometimes but they have jobs at Bungie that may require them to spend time on Bungie.net but they are not like us regulars whose duty it is to patrol the forums, interact with the community and other various tasks. That being said you cannot assign such people to moderate a forum when they spend less time on the forums and more time working. Also not every Moderator is active at the same time or have a rotation that they pick up, this is a volunteer gig. We're not paid, we have lives and we have jobs/school so we pick up whatever we can when we can.

Thusly like TGP already said, you cannot simply assign a Moderator to a forum and expect them to stay there. We patrol all areas of Bungie.net to ensure we cover as much as we can, granted yes some forums go uncovered when we are on a different one but in the end we always come back and double check where we've been. TGP made an excellent point that when the bulk of the Moderators that live in America are asleep he is able to freely patrol the forums. Maybe a little overwhelmed at times but it comes with the territory.

Needless to say it's not a practical idea to assign Moderators to a forum. Sure we all have our preference but we're a very colorful (especially stosh) cast of people and Bungie.net benefits from having us moderate and interact in as many forums as possible. Plus you said you'd assign me to the Classifieds, the Classifieds is a slow forum. Am I supposed to sit on my hands while someone is in need of help in the Halo 3 forum? Nope, Moderators use many different tools to contact each other and identify where they need help or receive help from one another about questionable posts and the like. Over all, it's just not practical to assign an individual Moderator(s) to specific forums. With the differences in schedules, time zones and other factors it's best if the system stays how it is. As long as you – the member – continue to do your part by reporting inappropriate threads/conduct and setting an example then Bungie.net will continue to be a better place.
