Lets review, think of what cortana says in the trailer...
"I have defied gods and demons"
"I am your shield, i am your sword"
"I know you, your past, your future"
"This is the way the world ends"

so... what if the ark is a way to go back in time and change the fate of the earth. that way u would defy gods and demons and protect humanity. that way cortana would also know the past and future, and know how the world ends.

I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

WTF

343 Guilty Spark allready stated what The Ark does, it remote activates all 7 Halo Installations!

maybe because they didnt need to, the ark was made so that is the halo rings were set off at the wrong time, it would be possible to go back and stop them from firing. Maybe the ring only goes back one day or so... who knows?

Thing is guilty spark isnt reall going to say that is it and what if the forunners just lied to it. so dont give it any ideas. i duno sounds coool, would make a twist in the game but id go what that person said and dont think they would put it in.

What would be the point? If the Halos were activated, anything with the knowledge to activate the Ark would be dead.

maybe the ark is the one place in the universe where the rings' explosion cant reach. ever wonder why when the ark goes off in the h3 trailer why the covenant ships run away? the ark cant set off the rings because that is what the covenant want. so why would they run when it goes off?

I wouldn't rule it out but I'd say its unlikely. Guilty SPark did say that the Forerunners had "exhausted all strategic tactics" when controlling the flood. They may have gone back in time but just failed to change anything.

exactly... good point

I THINK AT THE END OF HALO 2 HE SAYS THAT ALL THE HALO'S WENT TO STAND BY STATUS. I DONT RECALL HIM STATING ANYTHING ABOUT THE ARC IS WHERE THEY GET REMOTE ACTIVATED. BUT I MIGHT BE WRONG.

Quick as a razor, sharp as a bullet.

yeah it could be one of those things from first strike, but i doubt bungie would include anything in the books in halo 3. for those who haven't read them.

dont forget the covenant didnt know that the humans were on earth when they got there, they were only looking for the ark, and they ran into humans. so... maybe it was their mission to destroy the ark before they could set off the rings. that way no one could go back in time and stop them.

I respect your opinion, I'm probably just going to disagree with it.

This theory HAS been mentioned before, albiet a while ago and in different form. It was revolved around the statement of 343 Guilty Spark 'Why would you hesitate to do what you hve done before?'
It's along those lines anyway.

You are wrong!

343 GUILTY SPARK:

Fail-safe protocol: in the event of unexpected shut-down, the entire system will move to standby status. All platforms are now ready for remote activation.

COMMANDER KEYES:

Remote activation? From here?

343 GUILTY SPARK:

Don't be ridiculous.

Johnson gestures at the Monitor.

SGT. JOHNSON:

Listen, tinker-bell, don't make me-

The Commander puts her hand on his shoulder.

COMMANDER KEYES:

Then where? Where would someone go to activate the other rings?

343 GUILTY SPARK:

Why... the Ark, of course.

ok BS Police u just proved that u have memorized halo 2, congratulations u have no life. however when does the guilty spark ever tell the truth? remember.. he tried to trick the chief into setting off the ring way back when in the first halo. maybe that little cutscene that u so brilliantly repeated was a way for the halo makers to throw us off, did u ever think off that moron?

i thought the idea behind regret's attack was to continue the hunt for forerunner relics. he found the location of delta halo and went there.
