Everyone is talking about Ackerson and his secert project, when it is revealed will some humans side with the origanal spartans and some with Ackerson and his project? Or will some of the humans rebel against the ones who sided with the Elites?

Well now hold on, this dude has an idea. I've been thinking about similar things myself.

If the Elites and friends were to officially join sides with humanity, what would the civilians think of it? All their lives the current human generation has had to deal with this war, the propaganda involved and everything. I'd imagine they'd be pretty jumpy about having these alien monsters suddenly team up with them. I mean, one minute they're glassing planets like it's no tomorrow, next minute they're joining forces?!

The vast majority of humanity, military included, does not know about the Halos. All they know is that they are losing a terrible war against a superior alien force.

They'd notice something was different, that's for sure. And I'm not stating there is or isn't an alliance, I'm just saying that if there was an official one...

Think about it alittle more, it makes sense. At the end of Halo 2 it seemed that an alliance would happen. Akerson and his S III's could be against it. In one of the updates it was stated that Frankie was killing Grunts. Maybe a third character enters and its one of Akerson's Spartans. But hey I'm just talking.

I think everyone hates Ackerson too much. Maybe there is something else there? Something we are missing? What if he just feels we shouldn't lose at the cost of our humanity?

All they know is that they are losing a terrible war against a superior alien force.

Due to propaganda, most people (especially civilians) actually believed that they were winning the war, not losing it. Although I'm sure the events of halo 3 will change that.

I'm sure the events of Halo2 changed that. Come on, the bypassing of our defense grid and destruction of a major city? That's obviously bad.

I've been around these parts for almost eight years now...wow! Maybe I should be concerned about that...

The war between the UNSC and space pirates/rebels in the outer rim threatened to destroy humanity long before the Covenant ever did, but since the Covenant war began, all of humanity has joined forces...even Ackerson is on the human side, it's just that his motivations/projects are a little...shady. Anyways, I doubt humans will be stupid enough to wage any kind of large scale war whilew the entire race itself is in danger.

The characters in ILB certainly didn't act that way...but, ILB isn't canon, so I'm just guessing...though that sign in New mombasa does suggest a certain degree of effort at propoganda, if only to get people excited to join the army.

I kinda assumed that. I don't care how good your propaganda is, loosing New Mombasa certainly isn't going to be a positive note amongst humanity.

The destruction of Reach is probably much more of a negative note than the destruction of a city.

I so do not keep up with this stuff or this board anymore. Anyone have a link to point me in the direction of who the hell Ackerson is and what he has to do with H3?

Read the first and third Halo books. Basiclly he's an Admiral who is making clones of the Spartans for his own special missions, but he doesn't want anyone to find out.

OK. But is there any reason to believe he will be involved in Halo 3?

That probably would have an effect as well...

Hmmmm..... Reach could be easily modified by propaganda. All that needs to be changed is a few numbers, add a couple of numbers onto the end of the covenant forces and it looks like humans held off more enemies for longer.

And that all the Spartians came out fine, and that we took out half their entire fleet too. More of a painful victory than a bitter defeat, if I was Joe Shmoe civilian.

But how do you hide New Mombasa?

Hmmmm..... Technically it could be either covered up as an experimental reactor meltdown (or something), played off as being typical casualties, etc.
