Halo 1 = 1 Spartan
Halo 2 = 1 Spartan
Halo 3 = 1 Spartan

Halo 1 = 1 playable character
Halo 2 = 2 playable characters (including an enemy)
Halo 3 = 3 playable characters (including an enemy, and a brother)

ZOMG you really are an idiot.
Haha. That says alot about you then kid, since I was using the same exact frame of mind as you did.

Actually idiot, all I said was there is only going to be 1 Spartan in the Halo 3 just like in Halo 1 and 2. You however, blew your load over the thought of playing as a "brother". Why would Bungie spend 5+ years creating the legendary hero, the Master Chief, and all of a sudden introduce another hero in the last game of the trilogy? This is Master Chief's show. He's going to save the world by himself.

Why'd they put the arbiter in then he could have a huge rule in saving the world

I think they put arbiter in Halo 2 just for kicks. You know, to try something new.

Bungie did not write the books, a private party (Eric Nylund) wrote the books, Bungie edited them so that they came as close to fitting into the halo Universe as possible. I'll say it again:

Shishka himself said that: While the books are Canon they are meant to complement the games, not the other way around. and they chances of parts of them appearing in this late of a stage is next to none. Especially since out of the billions of people who have played the games only a relative handful have read the books.
So, if he says "a chance' why are all the people who hate reading so opposed to them adding more of their own story to the third game?

Billions? Try millions buddy.

Either that or he has an important part to the story line

Super Mario doesn't even go that far. The only Mario platformer that featured multiple characters with different attributes was Super Mario Bros. 2 (the US version), and those characters were needed to enhance gameplay.

However, I agree with you; having three characters in Halo would ruin the story. The plot would hop around on no intended path.

Anyone who wants to play Halo 3 should be able to play them and make sense of them without having to read the books. Period.

There is no way they could make it a good game with all that detail, especially having mentioned nothing about these things up to this point in the series.

Let them sit in their confusion.

The "them" you refer to is 95% of the Halo playing population. Having read the books, you are a part of a minority of Halo players.

I LOVE reading... i read 1-2 novels a week, i'm opposed to them putting stuff from the books (which are an alternate but complementing story-line, and indeed canon) Because doing so would only serve to Alienate the millions of people who have played the games but not read the books.

i grow tired of this same fan boy crap.....i should suffer because i play the Halo video games because i like to play video games, and dont read many books because i dont have much time after
1) my life and family
2) a J O B
3) i coach football
..............so make me go out and spend $60-70 just so i can be lost in a story im not familiar with.................retards

Guess what i have a life too.
1. I play football
2. have a girlfriend
3.And a Job

ok you play football so you have an idea how much more time i spend with it than you
you have a girlfriend....i said family.....wife,4 kids
you have a job....im guessing you a young guy still in highschool so not so many hrs as my 48-56 hrs per week

but we're off topic....the games are not, never have been, and hopefully never will be takin directly from the books
They're not coming directly from the books, it's directly from the Halo Bible, like it has been in previous games, and in all the novels. Meaning, it's the same exact sstory line, and yo uare likely to see many things that premiered in the novels
(Like the Arbiter, MAC cannons, MAC Stations, The Pillar of Autumn, Prophets, The Battle Rifle, Dual Wielding, Hood, Truth, Fleet Admiral Harper, etc.)

thats fine...but dont start the game by saying...here are 7 more spartans that have been living on some futurisic hippie comune.....figure out the rest on your own.......
I say, they should start the game with the Chief thinking back to his past for about half a minute, before he is jarred back into the present via the Forerunner ship exiting Slipspace.

Then there could be multiple memories (cutscenes) at the beginning and middle of the first few missions, the last one before we see the Spartans is one when he is simply looking at the Bridge of the ship they get back to Earth in (with Fred Will, Linda, and Johnson)..and Cortana chimes in "ETA to Earth is 35 hours" and things like that to both bring people who have not read the books..and put things that we previously could only imaging come to life on the 'big screen'.

It would not take away from gameplay, ewach one could last around as much time as a normal cutscene does..

Of course he should, The Arbiter ruined Halo 2's campaign for me..I just want to play as the Chief again, but having a coupld HUGE battles would be great, and seeing Spartans running their own which-a-ways while you do your thing would be awesome..

And you could just 'check up on them' during cut-scenes, like we do with Johnson and such..

It's too late for that... we're on the last game. if they put stuff from the books into the games they have no choice of alienating millions or not.... it will happen no matter what, they just don't have enough time to explain it all. There will NOT be parts of the books put into the games because there simply isn't enough TIME.

I may have a childish hobby, video games, but I am really not into childish literature, books about video games. The books should be a supplement, not a requirement.

Dot Dot Dot. you know, they introduce things to the Haloverse in the books, and games..but ultimately they come from the Halo bible, which was completed way back before Halo 2 and possibly Halo were released.

(remmeber all the new stuff in Halo 2? Where was it all first mentioned to the general Public? The Books. Where does it originate? The Halo Bible. What does the Halo Bible influence? Both the books, and the games equally.)

I don't think there should be playable portions from the books, but there should be a few memories of the Chief's old times..maybe shed a little light on where Gravemind is from, and the memories would open the audience up to the occasional new Spartan.

He's right. It's far too late to be explaining the background. There was plenty of that in Halo 2 from the covenant's perspective. Now it will be the action.

You're just making stuff up. Stop it. You have no idea what population of Halo gameplayers have read the books, and what mode they prefer to play. Furthermore, I'm sure a significant number of those who play primarily multiplayer have also played through the campaign. How does your scientific evaluation explain that cohort?
