Whats your fav halo novel?

Mine has got to be the The Flood. Mainly because of the detail it goes in to.I liked knowing that it just wasnt 1 spartan and a bunch of random survivors of a crash that fought off a bunch of covies and the flood. It also gave me a better understanding of the game and knowing how all of it was actually pulled off and not wondering where all the dropships and supplies came from.

the flood is pretty much the majority of people's least favorite. i like first strike. It was more fast paced and tense.

Fall of Reach. Not sure why, probably because I know it the best. I've read it 3 or 4 times, but First Strike only once. Never touched The Flood, because people said it sucks.

In some ways I liked the Fall of Reach the best. I liked learning the history of how the spartens were created and for me it enhanced the experience of playing the game the most. But I also loved First strike, and reading it will probably add alot to playing Halo 2, and I agree it did seem faster paced with more going on in it. I can't say anything about the Flood however as I haven't got it yet, the bookstore didn't have it when I bought the other two, but I am going to get it to read sometime soon.

The Fall of Reach did have the best moment in it though. Thats when the Covenant showed up and send a message to the human colony that said something like, "We are here to destroy you because it is the will of the gods". that was a cool moment for me.

Fall of Reach all the way, it's such a classic to me, and I read a lot of nice stuff ^_^. Just the detail that was put into the action, and the emotions of the characters, it was just mind blowing.

I love the part in the Fall of Reach where Dr. Halsey see's the spartans in action for the first time, when they repel from the rafters and capture the flag. That kicked ass. So did the part where they raided the rebel colony, just so much awesome detail.

hah. I was so stoked that they had a CTF part to FoR.

But yeah FoR is my favorite with the Flood comming in a CLOSE second and FS CLOSE behind that. They were all terriffic books.

Those people are soooo wrong, The Flood is a great book, it.. ah .. oo.. I don' t know how to describe it, just read it, despite what people say, it is very good.

They're all great, except The Flood I found to be a bit lacking. Not in story, but the writing didn't seem as polished as Eric Nylund's.

I don't know, but I do know I lest enjoyed First Strike. It was just WAY too technical, I understood all the books but Damn.......

great halo book moment: in FoR when the MC tests his new armor with Cortana and they battle those odst's and do all sorts of amazing stuff. The best part: master chief deflecting the scorpion missile and surviving! That got my adrenaline up for what he could do and it made by blood run cold. I knew the stuff he could do in the game but it was limited. The books were all good and I sure hope after Halo 2 is released there will be another book describing the stuff that they don’t explain or have in the game. I have read FS and FoR at least 3x each.

Definitely the Fall of Reach. It has all a book needs. My second is the First Strike. I hated the Flood, that was because the game already covered the topic.

I would have to say First Strike because it had action. lots of it. and i like action. But i think that the best moment award would have to go to Fall of Reach for the real mjolnir armor test with the helicopter. Eric Nylund really knows how to describe the details very good! I just think that the Fall of Reach had to many background details and not enough action but i still liked it. The Flood was kind of pointless because u can just play the game but it had more details to the story which is why i guess some people liked it. I dont like the covenant perspective. Really confused me with all of there weird names and all: Zanazweeb or something like that.

It was a cold day near the southern base in Blood Gulch. Cortana and I were relaxing over a game of Go Fish, WHEN OUT OF NO WHERE 700 BANSHEES CAME FLYING IN!!! I GRABED MY SPARTAN LASER AND LET HELL REIGN DOWN UPON THEM. I HOPPED IN THE NEAREST WARTHOG AND TOLD CORTANA TO GET IN.

F.o.R.

I loved learning all the History of them and all that. It made me feel like I knew more about the game and that it wasnt just you running around killing a bunch of evil Covies. This is a little off topic, but in the books it says that grunts have the methane tanks on their backs so in the game I think a great element to add would be when you shoot their tanks you see air rush out of them. But my fav book was F.o.R., then FS, then the flood.

I think in The Flood, one cool part was when the covies sent 100 ghosts and the marines killed em all w/ rockets. However, I am thuroughly convinced that no Covie elite would be that stupid. Send 2 wraiths in to bombard their formation and send 50 ghoists! the covies woulda had them then, but nooooo they sent 100 ghosts. Also a hilarious part in the flood was when MC was in the level The Maw. He was like "I killed so much I didn't even know I was killing any more. I killed and I killed" it talked like that for like a full page! I was laughing so hard. Another think whoever quoted "Your destruction is the will of the gods" how did you get your font changed like that!

The history.

I know that everybody says that the FOR is the best, but I didn't think so. The Flood is probably my favorite, and then First Strike. The Fall of Reach is excellent, but it didin't take me as much. I guess it's because there are so many space battles in it. I'm more of a ground team fighter. Space battles are cool, but not my fave. First Strike has less space battles, even though the entire thing takes place in three different ships. Most of the fighting is inside the ships.

Are you kidding? The entire first part of FoR is fighting on the ground.

Yo Halo53, I'm real happy for you and I'ma let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best bungie.net profiles of all time. OF ALL TIME!

Either Fall of Reach of First Strike because Eric Nylund is a great Halo writer. I liked both of those better than Halo: The flood. Partially because it is a story of a game I have beaten many many times.

In response to Spartan00029's post, I thought that it was only at the beginning. The B-E-G-I-N-N-I-N-G. Sure, the training and all, but there are hardly any Covenant (towards the end). And yes, Nylund is a GREAT author. I just liked The Flood more. When I bought the first two books before First Strike came out, I was so psyched to read them. While reading FoR, I couldn't wait to read The Flood. Maybe that clouded my vision of how great FoR really is.

I'd have to say Fall of Reach, it had all the backstory of how the spartan program came to be what it was

  • 05.18.2004 2:47 PM PDT

First Strike.

Uhhh..Wake up and clean the muck off your eyes!In FoR there are ALOT of groundside battles but the Space combat is AWESOME Like when Keyes flew the Irouquis into that one Covenant ship that was cool.
