Is it just me or did everybody else love the beginning of the silent cartographer when the dropships launched you onto the beach with a platoon of marines to destroy covenant forces on the beach?? It was just a Halo moment...u know straight into the freeking action...

What i'd love to see in Halo3 is a freeking massive counter-attack by earth's forces to breech covenant resistace surrounding the artifact where new mombassa used to stand...You know like dust kicking up everywhere, seeing the dull lights of ghosts coming towards you through the storm and being under sum seriously heavy fire..the roary noise and glimpses of longswords launching missiles at enemy positions, loads of hogs, loads of troops and -blam!- going on everywhere with the chief doing his best -blam!-...killing stuff....man the 360 could handle the needs....who else wants to experience this stuff??

Sounds CODish to me... but also so tempting...

And this has already been said, just to let you know.

Something like that but with flood attacking you after you gain control of the ark and you and the remaining covernate will have to jion our side so we can hold off the flood or we all die.

i have been hoping for along time that there would be a massive battle scene.
cause honestly there hasent been any great battle scenes in a game that revolves around war.
and the 2003 e3 demo for h2 had a better battle scene that the entire h2 game.

halo3 needs this groud battle, bungie needs it too....its what gaming fan's talk about to their friends "awwh u remember that awesome battle with tanks everywhere + all this other stuff + how cool it was" many parts of halo CE had you jumping into unexpected action...i think thats just why it was so cool...u had to adapt quickly + change ur weapons + think of a way round the scenario...do you storm in there gung-ho crazy or tacticalyl snipe the strongest + hope there's no re-enforcments or a wraith tank appearing out of nowhere....there was the bridge part at the end when the ghost, banshee's + wraiths started playing up stuff....but i reckon chief should have unexpected re-enforcments too...like the e3 halo2 trailer...tht airstrike ....freeking really set the scene!! and the fans love this stuff

Thatt wasn't a platoon of Marines...and yes, I'd love to have more fun mission in Halo 3..Halo 2 just didn't cut it in the campaign department.

they should have a battle like this sort of like earths last stand and u could be multiple spartans. for instance fight as master chief in one sectiona and once you get your objective you go back to another spartan after a cutscene and fight another huge battle while your adrenaline is still pumping.

"Groud Battles...MUST HAVE for Halo3"

Yes, because all the air battles were getting really annoying.

I WANT TO DEFEND SOMETHING! I would love to have to hold a base against a hoard of enemies just constantly swarming the base. Like at the end of The Flood, when you held out on that hill against the Flood for a few minutes. Like that, only in a more Zanzibar-esque level, where after like 10 minutes of defense, you push forward, crushing the Covenant in a massive counterattack.

yer like that pointless one u could just fly right past in the last part of the arbeiter??haha tht really was pointless....i cnt believe bungie bothered to try add resistance...what this ground battle needs is an army of tanks, longswords for air support....as soon as they destroy main defenses pelicans fly in ground troops....man i have this perfect image in my head...i want to be on the bungie ideas team and cinematic + storyboard team!!!

I sure do hope they make levels that actual looks like two planets at war rather then what we saw in halo 2. For a game rated mature halo 2 looked like it could of been rated teen. Im just sayen if a games gonna be rated mature could we atleast see more blood, more dead bodies, more destruction, body parts being shot off or being blown apart by land mines something on the saving private ryan scale so i could actually believe a wars going on and the masterchief is fighting for his life that all.

(You should of made a poll so a thousand people could have voted or basically every halo fan could have voted yes for big, huge, enormous, extensive, hulking, humungous, husky, immense, jumbo, king sized, mammoth, massive, monster, mungo, oversize, packed, ponderous, prodigious, roomy, sizable, spacious, strapping, stuffed, substantial, super colossal, thundering, vast, voluminous, walloping, whopper, whopping, heavy duty, heavyweight, influential, leading, main, major league*, material, meaningful, momentous, paramount, powerful, prime, principal, prominent, serious, significant, substantial, super, super colossal*, valuable, weighty BATTLES IN HALO 3)

If that wasnt vocabulary...i dont know what is!!!

half way thru this fabled ground battle there should be a cinematic where the tank the chief is commanding gets blown up by a bigass cannon of sum sort, and the chief manages to punch himself out the hatch before it blows up...and he is blown 20 feet frm the ammo explosion of the tank onto the top of another allied tank, where he suddenly see's another bigass blue..plasma..ball...thing...coming towards the tank he's laying on, so he rolls off the tanks front before it gets well + truely screwed up, then as the cheif is picking himself up johnson comes rolling up ina hog + throws you a rocket launcher.....

i think there should be a battle while on earth. there should be the covanent (the brutes and the jackals), the heratic or the covanent rebels (elites, grunts, hunters), flood, the machine (sentinals you know what i mean), humans obviosly. master chief should be in the middle of it all, taking the enemy forces down one-by-one or all together (boom). then some vehichles should come over the hills and the battle would transpire arounf with ground infantry and vehichles, maybe even some conflict in the air above us if there is any new human flying vehichles. point and case massive gore fest between everybody, lots of blood and carnage would be in order yes but more inportantly, action to the max. to the point were you are telling yourself you might aswell revert now because there's no way you are going to make it but out of some crazy weird stroke of luck you find cover behind a rock which is totally oblivious to what is happening and you manage to pull on through just to be sniped while you are boarding an enemy ghost.

I think the battle about 2/3 of the way through Two Betrayals was better than SC.

The covenant were holed up in the end of that one canyon, with 2 wraiths, four hunters, and a crapload of elites, jackals, and grunts. And the Flood were coming from everywhere, just charging their position. I'd always get in a banshee and fly out of the wraiths range and just watch.

I know the feeling of wanting a big battle though. That was one of the ways Oblivion disappointed me. After running around recruiting all those city watch, I wanted to stand on the battlements of Bruma and throw arrow after arrow into oncoming daedra hordes... Then wait anxiously by the gate with my sword drawn as it buckled from the battering ram... Such visions...

all these huge battle would prolly happen before MC gets to the ARK, because bungie says that the MC just got though a horrific battle and now hes found the ARK. so maybe after the MC fights his way past possibly flood, sentinals, covvies, he finds the ARK, just when truth and his ships find it.

if that makes any sense

i agree i like that battle more aswell,
and ya who here thought that was probably the beggist disapointment to halo 2. the biggest battle that is in halo 2 was near the end of gravemind when you are fighting the elites and the brutes in that circular room or when you are in the arbiter in the next levels. I liked the arbiter levels because i knew if i kept my guys alive and gave them saved some vehichles i could create some huge devastating battles, and i could use his crazy invisibility to make a sneak attack. I think that if the make a really good one in halo 3, one to top all other battles they should get the arbiter and the chief involved, and they should incorperate some crazy multi player tactics, like making it an assualt mission on an enemy base, that would own on co-op. put some vehichles in there and some marines and people on your side and it would be so cool.
