I keep hearing that the Chief has to die, or will die, or should die, etc. But I don't think so. The chief is a hero. You don't kill off heros. I f Bungie did that it could turn many fans, even the die hard ones like me, against Bungie. Obviously not a great idea.

When heroes die, they become legends.

You lose.

There is a saying:

Heros are remembered but Legends never die. You said chief is a hero so he dies. But I want it to be epic. Like the one guy in Independence day when he drives into the Alien ship. Somthing like that. One that hard core gamers will cry.

Chiefs too invincible. What about the tale of the common man. If bungie is going to make more games based on the Halo universe. MC can't be the main character. He's a one man army. We did the whole one man army thing for two games already (probably 3). It seems like MC is fighting the war all by himself and that is -blam!- no matter how you look at it. I always thought the story of resting the fate on the universe of one single man was retarted. He wants to win the war by himself he's eventually going to have to do something suicidal.

There are heroes that die. Wallace in Braveheart, for example. But Wallace was a charismatic leader, his belief stirring the hearts of every Scottish man on the field, rallying them to his cause. His death was a great motivator. The Chief is the strong, silent get the job the -blam!- done type of guy, and those are the heroes that must survive, or their people will fail.

I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

I don't want Cheif to die in the hands of an enemy (e.g. torture from Prophets, covenant attack), but if Bungie could somehow make his death epic and full of Pathos appeal, then I guess I would be fine with him dying at the end.

The fate of the Chief may very well be death. It would end the Trilogy in a very powerful and artistic way. Besides, after the Covenant and Flood have been destroyed the Chief will have little purpose. Remember, the Spartan II project was created to combat the Covenant onslaught.

Although, I have read one theory which stated that there may be a cyclic nature to the Halo story. This theory was that with the activation of the Ark/Halo Network leads to time being returned to before the Flood were released (aka Halo 1). I found it quite an interesting idea.

Part of the evidence for it is Gravemind on the H2 Pt2 soundtrack saying:
"Time has no end, No beginning, no purpose; I am lost in time..."

Also Cortana, in the trailer, says:
"I know you, your past, your future"

Of course Gravemind could be speaking through her to the Chief/Us.

I was close enough. It means the same, and my point still stands.

he should die like Chef did. with brutes and grunts pulling on his body. then he gets rebuilt and is called darth chief, and you have to play him on the last level, then he dies for real.

In your first paragraph you say the SPARTAN II project was started because of the Covenant. That is impossible because the SPARTAN II project began 20 years before the first contact with the Covenant. Everything else is complete nonsensical bull crap.

Give a man a fish, feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish, feed him for a lifetime.
Teach a man religion, and he will starve to death praying for a fish.

If Master Chief gets killed, I'm blaming you. I'll find ya.
