I remembered something about the Halo 3 Trailer the other day. We all noticed that the theme was different, and was now accompanied by trumpets. I thought nothing of it until I began working on a theory that investigated the parallels between Halo and the Book of Revelation. Someone had asked about this in a WWU a while ago, so I looked back to see what was asked.

Nf Snapzilla asks,
-sometimes trumpets are blaring to celebrate success and jubilation, sometimes they are blaring in a defeated mourning manner, any thoughts?

-if you can answer this, could you also answer whether the Chief 's mindset in the trailer is in accordance of, or in defiance of these trumpets.

Trumpets have also been used to signal a charge to war or a call to arms. It could mean many things. You'll know in 2007.

Those who know the Book of Revelation may recognize the relation. Upon the opening of the Seventh Seal, there is a sounding of Seven Trumpets, each which brings devastation and woes.

15 Then the seventh angel sounded: And there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!” 16 And the twenty-four elders who sat before God on their thrones fell on their faces and worshiped God, 17 saying:

“We give You thanks, O Lord God Almighty,
The One who is and who was and who is to come,
Because You have taken Your great power and reigned.
18 The nations were angry, and Your wrath has come,
And the time of the dead, that they should be judged,
And that You should reward Your servants the prophets and the saints,
And those who fear Your name, small and great,
And should destroy those who destroy the earth.”

19 Then the temple of God was opened in heaven, and the ark of His covenant was seen in His temple. And there were lightnings, noises, thunderings, an earthquake, and great hail.

This seems to me to be a similar account to what we see in the Announcement Trailer. Could the H3 Trailer in fact be depicting a parallel to the Seventh Trumpet? And the Ark is actually in reference to the Ark of the Covenant inside that 3-mile-wide Forerunner artifact? What do you think?

According to Stephen Loftus, the artifact is 35 miles in diameter, because those ships are a bit over 3 miles themselves. But that's a technical thing.

At any rate, it totally jives with me.

What's your interpretation on the last sentence in verse 18?

I really really like what you found, I also like how you guys don't disrespect the Bible. I have to say that the music in the trailer was magnificent, it still gives me shivers, I can play it on the piano. But yea, It's really funny how much stuff you can find in the Bible that relates to Halo, and not just specifically named verses, some times in places like Psalms or things like that, there are so many possibilities.

No kidding!
Have you seen Psalm 77(:16-20)?

A line in vs. 18 strikes me funny. "And the time of the dead, that they should be judged," In lieu of the belief that Gravemind is a type of Death, that is prophetic that he shall be defeated. Hmm...that would answer the question of, "if we stop this fight, then we get eaten by the Flood?" Even though Frankie said in the making of video that we would "finish all the fights we started in Halo 1."

Also think about this:

7 Halo Installations=7 Seals on the book of life
7 Indexes used to activate the Halo Installations=7 Keys used to open the seals on the book of life

7 is a holy number, the number of perfection. 6 is unholy, imperfection.

There's a reason behind the numbers...

  • 07.13.2006 9:23 AM PDT

And 4 is a number of good fortune.

ive read revelations and the 7th trumpet is the end of the world, but does that mean there will have to be the other 6 trumpets first? will the halos be set off before the ark is? i know thats not how it works but maybe when the ark is activated then the 6 halos will go off, and then the ark? what ever happens that is when the ark is set off that is, or will there be 7 parts of the ark to ativate in order to end the world? or maybe theyre needs to be 7 spartans (if you follow the whole human/spartan/forerunner theory) to set of the ark? how many spartans are there theoretically left, from the books?

I think the Seven Trumpets would happen almost all at once (You can't make the game too big). It's the Seals that I think are being opened over the course of the three games. Plus, I don't think the Ark actually is set off. The Ark is only the place to activate the Halos remotely, no one said that it plays a role in the weapon itself. I find it likely that the Ark is in reference to the Ark of the Covenant seen in the temple in Heaven in Revelation.

I'm not entirely sure. I'm almost positive that we are at least at the Fifth Seal, or the opening of the Abyss. Seals one through four were the Four Horsemen and seem to be covered through Halo and Halo 2. Whether or not the Fifth Seal has been broken is what I'm really debating.

well what kind of evens would you consider to be seal scale? finding halo, relesing the flood, retreiving the key, destroying halo.....maybe gravemind was the opening of the abyss?

Gravemind will certainly play a role in the opening of the Abyss. I equate him to Abaddon/Apollyon who leads the Fallen Angels out of the Abyss. The Second Seal is War, so a simple representation would be the Human-Covenant War or even the Rebel Insurgency before 2525. I skipped the First Seal, which is conquering. What was done before the Covie war? We were focused on the expansion of the human empire and the colonization of habitable planets. The Third Seal is famine and the Fourth Seal is death. Combined, I would see them as the release of the Flood on Installation 04 and then 05. The Fifth Seal may be analogous to Gravemind making his way to High Charity, which will probably be used to travel to Earth.

i think gravemind would be the 4th seal, as he is a monument to all our sins, and sin is the death in revelations. whats the name of the 5th 6th and 7th seals?

Sin itself is not death. Death may be the result of sin, but they are not quite the same in reference to Revelation. He fills the role of the Beast, the Antichrist, much nicer. Plus, I believe Azazel (one of the Fallen Angels) to be Abaddon. All sin was ascribed to Azazel, thereby making him a "monument" to all our sins.

i dont know know if anyone here remembers but there was a site called Eon8 or something. After the Seven days of God's creation of earth comes Eon8, the end of the world. this was just something that people were talking about maybe a month or two ago.

Oops. I believe I've been saying that the opening of the Abyss is the Fifth Seal. I was wrong. It is in fact the Fifth Trumpet of the Seventh Seal.

Romans 3:23 says that the wages of Sin (The Flood) is Death (Gravemind). This also gives a great picture of sin. Sin by its nature can never be satisfied. Greed and lust can never be satiated. In the same way, the flood can eat forever and never be filled.
