Bungie.net isnt warm and fussy anymore. It used to be happy, like bunnies, dancing on a rainbow, with whipped cream, and choclate cookies. Now everyone hates eachother and there all these rules, and blahh, bablahh, bablahh. I think when bungie reopened the forums everyone dragged over their new found ability to hate others that they got from Xbox Live. I remeber when we were all friends. I remember when, before Halo 2 came out, you could say, "oh i heard that in Hao 2..." and the next person would resond

"Oh, that would be awesome, wanna become friends (ok a little exaggeration)."

Now its like "rawr im a moderator and im gonna blacklist you becuase i can, rawr." (ehem, im thinking of a moderator, and it rhymes with Flishka)

Seriously, its not fun any more, its like living in Communist Russia or something. Sheezus marijane and josephene. Im serious.

Oh and the mod that rhymed with Flishka was Yoozel, just so you know.

Eh...follow the rules and you won't be Blacklisted...although conversations have dulled a bit...I still come here for friends and groups.

I don't remember it being like that. In fact, people were complaining about the way things were back then.

Either way, there will always be jerks on any forum...just learn to deal with it.

Yea, there will always be complaints, just of a different sort. But something has to be done to handle the growing amount of members!

Wasn't here from the 'before' days, but common sense would seem to point out:
* Avoid flamebait
* Keep a sense of humor
* Don't take everything everyone says personally (especially on a forum, when one is barred from facial expressions or tone of voice)

I used to get frustrated by the atmosphere in the Zanzibar forum... now I guess most recently I get frustrated by the 'special' atmosphere in the Halo 3 forum. All I can say is that groups and IRC channels are my friend!

True, but at least back then people were somewhat civilized on the main forums.

*raises eyebrow* Who said anything about being a "nice" angry mob? No one. And if you are flamebait, then you have few friends. Your best chance is to ride the coat-tails of others already established within this community. Then once YOU have a following, and have learned the ways of posting, it's then that you can break out and not be "flamebait" or dulling in your posts and replies. Grab ahold of this community, and embrace it's ugly self with a sarcastic hatred. Give your props and respects to those in command, and one day you will command. Make friends through blowing their heads off, and make enemies by blowing their heads off.

If you want a nice place, treat it as your own. If you want to get ahead of the rest of the poster's, establish yourself. As for me, I am not of this world, I don't institutionalize myself within these four windows. I am saved, sanctified, and loving it.

I just ignore the flamers now. They are too immature to waste my time with and I would only get in trouble for replying.

I got blacklisted once. It was actually the best thing that ever happened to me on BNet. Because, before that, I used to make dumb posts.

Me too. Except, it took more than one blacklisting......

Talk about your false memories...

Now its like "rawr im a moderator and im gonna blacklist you becuase i can, rawr."
Usually it's, "rawr, I'm a moderator, and I'm gonna blacklist you because you're being a silly idiot and/or jerk wrecking other folks' fun and no number of hints or suggestions have encouraged you to follow the rules, rawr." Seven-day time-outs aren't handed out lightly, and the forum rules are there for a reason. (In part, because the forum isn't warm and fuzzy.)

It was a cold day near the southern base in Blood Gulch. Cortana and I were relaxing over a game of Go Fish, WHEN OUT OF NO WHERE 700 BANSHEES CAME FLYING IN!!! I GRABED MY SPARTAN LASER AND LET HELL REIGN DOWN UPON THEM. I HOPPED IN THE NEAREST WARTHOG AND TOLD CORTANA TO GET IN.

If this is your oldest account, I don't believe you ever saw a "warm and fussy (fuzzy?)" Bungie.net. I don't think I ded either, or if I did I caught the tail end of it.

I'd have to agree with that. But the thing is, things were small back then. just a small amount of people, and we could all sit around the campfire. Now we have over a million people, and they all want to sit around that campfire. So when someone tries to make the fire bigger, he burns the people that managed to get a spot close to the fire.

Mr. Speaker, we are for the warm and fuzzy. The environment has barely changed...if at all. None of the moderators blacklist without reason. People that push moderators to see what they can get away with should be slapped, too. Bungie.net's rules aren't that restrictive nor are they that hard to enjoy yourself in.

The only thing I still have a problem with now (and always have) is members' desire to treat threads like chats. I know it's fun to get replies to your posts and respond to the attention you receive. Some people take it too far and just drive their Warthog right off topic into oncoming trains of death. It can't be helped too much, though.

Now, if you'll allow me to indulge myself, I must go count my appreciation of kittens with straws.

noooooo

why did you have to go????

come back !!!!

moderate !!!!!!

Bnet NEEDS YOU !!!!!!!!!

LoL, ive only been here a few months, but i know what yous guys mean- some ppl on this forum are either disgusting or rude or both

Shouldn't it be, "Do not want"?

I think the better days were pre-April 12th 2004, not that I would know much about those days anyway.

God forbid you send me one of those I was checking for cool gamers and saw you messages too, I will scream to the top of my lungs and smash this damn screen/BlackBerry to pieces! You've been warned -_-

Don't get it wrong, there are nice guys in Bungie.net. You just got to stick with the rules and for some reason don't say anything stupid because there are Flameheads in these forums.

Strange evolution how people have come to believe
That we are it's greatest achievement
We're barely, we're just a collection of cells
Overrating themselves

I think it can be summed up with --> Fame has its consequences. Those of us who were lucky enough to be exposed to Bungie pre-Halo know how much the community has expanded, or more accurately, how much the fan-base has expanded.

With that expansion comes the increased likelihood that you will experience more idiots, flamers, etc. Unfortunately, being an idiot isn't against forum policy, so we're forced to deal with it.

The moderators do a good job considering that there arent that many of them. I have only seen one mod hand out undeserved BL's. If you've been here for any amount of time, its obvious what threads you should join and which threads to avoid. ANd if you can't find your niche in the public forums, you can always find a group to join.

Certain moderators definition of spam is somewhat less lenient with certain bungie.net members. Essentially, take a thread that is on topic, in the correct forum, but if a certain mod doesnt think the thread is worth anything, the thread creator gets a BL. I understand the reasoning as to why it was done, I just dont agree with pre-emptive bl's.

no, i dont mean me. I've been bl'ed twice. Once on a technicality by dmbfan (posting in a locked thread) and once deservedly by Shishka.
