I've been around these parts for almost eight years now...wow! Maybe I should be concerned about that...

It isn't Bungie.net that's changing, it's just that you are becoming an "old" member, and old members tend to see less magic in the forums...they always prefer it the way it was when they joined, while those who had been in the forums before they joined prefered it when they joined...get it? Ok, now eat a kitten to save a cow!

Strange evolution how people have come to believe
That we are it's greatest achievement
We're barely, we're just a collection of cells
Overrating themselves

I dont think anyone is really whining, its more of a "Gee, I wish all these dopes weren't here so the mods could be a bit more lenient," discussion.

Its a win/lose. If they're more lenient, then you have to wade through 7 pages of Bring the CE pistol back to Halo 3 posts; if they enforce the rules more strictly, then you don't get that fuzzy feeling the original poster was referencing.

Group RPG's!

DO NOT DO IT! DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT DOING IT! DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT NOT DOING IT!

One of the funnest places is the groups. Shame not many people are active in it.

Theres about 200 groups active out of the 18,603 groups that are out there. What has happened to the 7th Coulmn!!!

I hate everything, but it's not my fault.

I've been here for a while now, and trust me when I saw that nothing has really changed since The New Hotness. We have more moderators who have more power, and the forums and member base are larger, but the average user is, and always will be, pretty much the same. The only thing that's changed is your mind. Trust me, in 6 months or a year, somebody is going to make a thread that says "Things were so much better a year ago, what's changed?" And then you will understand.

Sooo, the forums have become the New York of the Interweb. That's not all bad. New York does a lot of important stuff, like.....The Morning Show....And....The Stock Exchange.

The only warm and fuzzy times I have are in the Flood. Damn I love that forum.

I'm just editing this because if someone reads this thread in the future for some odd reason they'll see that I edited it. So really, I have no idea why I did this.

Bungie.net isnt warm and fussy anymore. It used to be happy, like bunnies, dancing on a rainbow, with whipped cream, and choclate cookies. Now everyone hates eachother and there all these rules, and blahh, bablahh, bablahh. I think when bungie reopened the forums everyone dragged over their new found ability to hate others that they got from Xbox Live. I remeber when we were all friends. I remember when, before Halo 2 came out, you could say, "oh i heard that in Hao 2..." and the next person would resond

"Oh, that would be awesome, wanna become friends (ok a little exaggeration)."

Now its like "rawr im a moderator and im gonna blacklist you becuase i can, rawr." (ehem, im thinking of a moderator, and it rhymes with Flishka)

Seriously, its not fun any more, its like living in Communist Russia or something. Sheezus marijane and josephene. Im serious.

Oh and the mod that rhymed with Flishka was Yoozel, just so you know.

You joined in late 2005, not 2004, so you weren't here before Halo 2 came out.

Mourne not your comrades who must dwell / too strong to strive -
Within each steel-bound coffin of a cell, / Buried alive;
But rather mourne the apathetic throng / The cowed, and the meek -
Who see the world’s great anguish and its wrong / And dare not speak.

Not everything is as it seems. I started coming to B.net around June 04, but I've had to get a new account since then. He could have had to do the same.

I agree not everything is as it seems. Some Flood members were replaced by Cylons. The Cylons were created by man. They evolved. They rebelled. There are many copies. And they have a plan. That is why there is now more flaming. :)

I actually think there should be a forum for people that have been a member for at least 2+ years. I would make it 5+ actually just so i would have somthing to look forward too, what do you think?

Sounds a bit elitist for me... would probably negate the meaning of having an 'open community'.

Put forth, discussed, shot down. Pmaster has given the reason why it was shot down.

Never once have I felt a "warm and fuzzy" feeling when coming to B.net. I would guess that means that the forum never had such a feeling in the first place, the feeling was long before I came, or I am dead to all feeling...or some combination of the three.

The Frozen Minority - The most infamous clan borne from the Seventh Column.

It is elitist to have segregation based upon age in the forums, that is what sparked the discussion about The Flood some days ago.

Perhaps a 'Trusted' group or forum, it wouldn't be limited by age or anything other than your own intelligence. People who regularly conduct themselves on the main forums well (helping other members, showing use of knowledge, following the main rules) would gain access to this area.

That being said, it would probably become inactive quickly but this could be overcome with regular caption contests, art threads, music threads, and so forth. The rules would be less strict but the punishment of behaving inappropriately would be loss of access to the Trusted forum.

Just a thought - a less defined, more accessible option to the 'two-year-old member' forum. Anyone could get in, as long as they had shown themselves as trustworthy members of the community.

Feel free to destroy my dream now.

Elite...ism...thing...

Eliteismthing.

That still falls under the same problem. The "good" members get a reward of their own semi-private forum, while the "bad" people don't get anything but contempt. Even if there were no way to tell whether a member had access to a certain forum by simply looking at their profile, there would still be problems. If someone were to let slip they could (or couldn't) go to the "Trusted" forum, they'd be ridiculed (by a few, not everyone), or flamed. Too many problems with humanity.

Speaking of problems with humanity, have you seen my assistant?

True, the Trusted members would develop a sence of superiority, but at the same time that status could be acquired by someone who is not trusted. Unlike the 2 year rule, if you put some effort in, it would make a diffirence, there would be hope for anyone to become trusted.

There would always be idiots who abuse their status but then, wouldn't they simply become 'untrustworthy' and forfeit their position?

I wish there were more options...
