The idea of using a chess ranking program for Hlo 2 seemed like a good idea at first, but it doesn' work out. This is Halo not chess. What Bungie needs to do for Halo 3 is to revamp the system. The ranking system shouldn't be based on wether you win or lose, but how well you play. For example if you get 30 kills in a team slayer game, but the other idiots on your team decided to kill themselves, whichmakes you lose the game, it should still give you points. Or if you are playing CTF you should get poihnts based on how many flag captures/ steals/ etc. you have. Of course if you don't have any flag captures and you are on the winning team, you should still gain points, but not as much. In my opinion this would really ballance out the matchmaking system, and not penalize you for getting stuck with retarded de-levelars.

If it was adjusted so that the person with the most kills in a team game got the most experience, it would destroy most teamwork and simply make it an FFA game where you couldn't kill half of the players on the map. Encouraging in-team competition is to encourage losing.

That's not quite the same as the system that I'm proposing. Nowhare on that page does it say that you gain points even if you lose. All it says is that you gain points based on the following criteria: Position of team (1st. 2nd,) and your position within the team. What I'm saying is that regardless of wether you win or lose it should rank you on how well you play. For example you may lose a team slayer game, but have more kills than anyone on the opposing team, therefore you gain points. Now if you win, but you were trying to de-level you would lose points because you were not helping your team. Ovbiously this system would work differently on objective games, where your point loss/gain would depend on what you did to help the team.

Dude you are stupid, why should my teammate that was the flag runner get more points than me when i have 50 kills. I am a better slayer than some people on my team so i will kill the people around the flag runner. So they did more than me? You are dumb and have no idea how anything works so please do not post again.

your friend would get more points because it's a CTF game, not a slayer game.

this is true, but you won't lose points for winning, you'll still gain something. All I'm saying is that if your team loses and you have more kills than anyone on the winning team, should you lose points? No.

Devote some time to read the entire page.
It IS possible to gain points when you lose.
There are several things that influence this (such as your rank, and the other players rank).

No, YOU are stupid.
Why the hell should you get more points for killing more people in a game where the objective is to CAPTURE THE FLAG?

ha ha pwned.......

anyways. All the gamestypes ( i imagine) your complaining about have the word team in it at some point. The word team, hm. I always thought it meant working as one, or working together. Not try to outdo each other. You lose rank if you lose a team game....why? because the other team worked better together. Which is the basis of most playlists. But why should u lose ur rank because u did a good individual job in a team playlist? got me.......

Yeah, but think about it, your individual playing ability should also be accounted for, which is why it is set up how it is.

If you lose, but are the best player on your team, it hurts your rank FAR less than the worst player.

The way he's thinking is like the ranking in Battlefield 2. 1 point for a kill, 3 points for a flag capture, etc... I don't think it's a completely bad system, but then you get team-killers to try to get more points by capturing a flag.
