I'm going to throw in a little more than my two cents. . . this time you guys get 4 cents. Ahh, carnage.
Section-III experimental alternative weapon No. N14 Mk II "MindSeeker"- The mindseeker was the pet project of Colonel James Ackerson whom hired neurologist Eugene Tokagawa to spearhead development of 'mind-affecting' weapons in 2548. The mindseeker is in very short supply on remaining human colonies due to destruction of Reach where the majority of prototypes were held. The mindseeker is a unique weapon in that rather than relying on the aim of the soldier, the weapon is self-guided. Projectiles are small probes with a tiny fuel cell, propulsion system, guidance system, needle and battery. The weapon is equipped with detection equipment located underneath the barrel. This mechanism detects brainwaves within a 35M radius and relays that information to a targeting mechanism located just behind the barrel and probes. Probes are fired using compressed air for initial propulsion as well as a small fuel cell within the probe itself which can propel the probe up to 50M. The self-propelled probe is remotely fed target information into a nano-processing unit within the probe.
Once the probe guides itself to the source of brainwaves, a small, hooked tripod on the front of the projectile latches onto a victums skull and pulls the main mass of the probe foward. Contact with the base of the tripod triggers the release of a needle within the main mass of the probe which is forced out by compressed air. The force and shape of the needle gives it the capability of piercing the majority of known armors. Upon entry into the brain, the needle conducts a powerful series of electric pulses which disrupts neural activity and eventually causes death. Test subject survival of the mindseeker has so far been 0%.
Targets must have significant neural activity in order to be tracked by the mindseeker. Some animals may go undetected or require longer time to be 'locked on.' Unconcious targets are rarely targeted by the mindseeker.
Notes Chief Petty Officer Ryan Burks UNSC Marine Corps// Jesus Christ, this is a scary gun. I've never seen it used on a human, and I never want to. The convulsions this thing sends animals into is almost enough to give a man nightmares, and I don't even want to get into some of the things that have happened during the first few seconds of this weapons effects. The projectile is not quite as fast as our Spnkr rockets, but its maneuverability is just plain unreal. I don't know if I would or wouldn't want to use this gun in the field
PRIMARY ROLE: Medium range alternative weapon
SECONDARY ROLE: N/A
AVAILABILITY: Rare; prototypes only available to test personnel
SCOPE: No
MAGAZINE CAPACITY: 4 probes
RATE OF FIRE: Single shot; 1 round requires .5-3 second lock-on time
MELEE RATING: Low; the awkward design makes melee an unwise use of the Mindseeker.
and for round 2
Section-III Alternative weapon- A7 "Shrieker"- The "shrieker" is another alternative weapon designed in Section III under the supervision of Colonel Ackerson. Ackerson, looking for a different way to approach combat, quite possibly to win prestige, invested in 'sonic' weaponry in 2550 due to setbacks in funding for his neural-weapons. The shrieker was built to be a much more powerful version of non-lethal sonic weapons used by law enforcement. The shrieker is a highly directional sound weapon that implements the sound of a baby shrieking, in reverse at (adjustable) levels starting at the equivalent of a roaring jet engine. The weapon can be set to multiple levels of 'damage' to accomodate the situation of the soldier. The lowest setting is non-lethal and highly disorienting. The piercing sound renders a victim almost powerless, and, depending on the subject, tests have resulted in fleeing, unconciousness and even vomiting. The shrieker can also be set to a much more lethal setting. On medium, the sound waves destroy the ear drums and cochlea. The victims experience deafness in 80% of cases and 65% have resulted in irreparable damage to balance and equilibrium. Upon exposure, victims will ideally lose all balance and hearing abilities. In most cases targets were rendered unconcious for several hours, and all cases resulted in the disabling of the target. On the highest setting, severe damage to internal organs is garunteed. Vibration is so severe that tissues, bones and organs are ruptured upon exposure; directed sound at the cranium has been permanently disabling in 100% of cases and fatal in 85% of cases. Most useful, is the fact that the shrieker can circumvent armor plating and cause heavy trauma to the soldier beneath. While some countermeasures have been developed against directed sonics, necessary equipment is impractical and still subjects the victim to minor to moderate internal damage through the shrieker. Due to the expensive nature of the shrieker and a UNSC contract with the Argus, the company whom manufactures the MA5B rifle and other UNSC infantry weaponry, it never gained popular use by the marine core. Some local law enforcement agencies, militant factions and various individuals favor these weapons well over traditional weaponry.
Notes // Field Commander Zheng Zhu -UNSC MarineCorps\\: Every time I have used the shrieker I have found its performance outstanding. Not only is it useful for riot suppression, but also a lethal and viable alternative to the assault rifle. Without tracers or sound, except for directly in front of the gun of course, the shrieker is the most valuable stealth weapon I have ever encountered. I sincerely hope the top UNSC officials give more consideration to using the A7.
PRIMARY ROLE: Non-lethal disorientation of a target
SECONDARY ROLE: Lethal alternative to conventional weapons
AVAILABILITY: Moderate
SCOPE: 2-6x zoom
MAGAZINE CAPACITY: Single battery; appx. 3min of continuous sound
RATE OF FIRE: Continuous fire
MELEE RATING: Rifle-like shape and moderate-durability make the shrieker useful in melee combat.
