well, i think that by looking at the carrier forms, you can tell from their tiny, little hooves that they are indeed Grunts. it is strange that we never see Jackal-Flood running around, though...

i never said the Master Chief was "the" reclaimer, simply that he was one, and the most capable, at that. when it comes down to it, i just can't believe wiping the galaxy of any sentient life capable of hosting the Flood, again, is any sort of reclamation.

being sentient means having a state of consciousness. so, anything that has a sense of perception.

See this is where the Marathon story connections come in. Some theories suggest that Durandal took the main character of Marathon throughout time and space and possibly to Halo where he could have activated installation 7. Recall if you will that in Halo the marines would sometimes say "Hey! It's a Mark 5!" The main character in Marathon was a Mark 5 cyborg. Considering the visual similarities of the Master Chief and the player from Marathon, if Durandal did in fact take the player throughout space and they activated inst. 7, 343 may have mistaken Master Chief for the Mark 5 cyborg who had previously activated Halo which also explains why he says "Why would you hesitate to do what you have already done?"

He is reclaiming the lost empire for the glory of the forerunners.
