I think they should because it would be so cool to be flying over and enemies base in coagulation, take a rocket and and belly-flop onto the top of the bases, stagger out while your shields are beeping for what seems like forever. Then run into the base, get the flag,,jump into a ghost while all your team are distracting the enemy and escape and score.
Phew!

yes, even though it's been discussed before, yes. I'm not sure if the mods have replied with any intell about this inquiry, but it's a feesable part of gameplay that could be added.

Step 3 is flawed.

And knowing most snipers, you wouldnt get that far anyway. Everyone in the pelican would get shot by a good sniper, a randomer with a rocket launcher, or a banshee firing randomly into the sitting area.

The pelican is a flying coffin. Get over it, its a rubbish idea.

It's a good Idea but for a Pelican there needs to be a very large level for it.

Ok, it would be really overpowerful, so it needs a limited 1st person cockpit view, and it has to be slightly hard to fly. Also, a small fuel tank exposed could help balance it out.

a small fuel tank is a good idea. Also it SHOULD be hard to fly and i think it should have only like a warthog chaingun and unguided rockets.Of course this is my opinion and you are entitled to yours

Hmmm....no Fuel tank. The pelican should not be so simple to take down. I think 2 rockets would be enough to take it down. PLUS, the level would have to be HUGE to use it. Pelicans are pretty damn big. This may be stupid, but maybe a smaller pelican that only holds 6 and has no co pilot. . . . i dunno.

Not only that, but its not that fast, I'm glad someone agrees with me that the Pelican is a horrible multiplayer idea

I think that the pelican should be flyable in halo 3.The reason why is cause its the last halo so atleast make it as funt as you can and to make the pelican in maps than the map should be really really big and to make it easy to kill.Keep The copilot in the pelican. The copilot is just going to be controlling the weapons of the pelican but the weapons should only be a chaingun and does not take as much damage to players and does not fire rapidly.Plus it should only take about 2 rockets to destory I agree with that idea.Although I do not agree that it should be hard to fly.Its already hard for most players I play on Halo CE with a pelican in them. Why make it even harder?

But it might not be the last halo!OMG you might say,but maybe Bungie*choir sings heavenly song* will decide that Halo makes money AND is fun and decide to make another halo like maybe the fall of reach or first strike books. But i like your opinion.

The pelican is a better vehicle than most think. But to make it better, it should have the following things to avoid whoring of it.

1) Collisions at speed with any object head on would mean instant death. This would prevent using its size to ram with.

2) The rockets should have 5 targets on the craft. 1 for the turret, and 4 for the thrusters. You would then have to hit 2 thrusters to kill it. 1 thruster would heavily hinder its mobility.

3) The pelicans should have a closable hatch in the rear end with a window for the gunner. Therefore protecting the men sitting helplessly, and allowing for a turret on the rear.

The pelican would be nice for a map that is about the size of 3 coags. It shouldnt be used on anything from Coag and smaller.

Ok then but i am sure that fall of reach and first strike is about halo(!)
(if they decide to make it)But you are partly right because it is the last halo game in THAT story arc

The ones in Halo Custom Edition work fine. They have 3rd person view, had landing gear that deploys if you get really close to the ground, has a chaingun on the nose controlled by the co-pilot,( pilot if hes by himself ) and Guided Missles ( take them out for H3 MP ). And its easy to fly if you have common sense.

Jump- Ascend
Crouch- Descend
Aim + Movement- exactly like any other vehicle ( they can strafe and go reverse in Halo 2 )
Fire Weapon- Fire Chaingun
Throw Grenade- Fire Missles ( again do away with these in MP )
Theres also ALL the seats in the back and a spot where a sniper can stand and shoot from.

So its really simple but takes getting used to.

About destroying it. 2 rockets to the nose or 2 to the inside of the troop bay, or 5 rockets to the side, and lastly, you could take out 2 of the engines. 2 rockets to take down each engine. The Pelican has to be pretty sturdy if it can go in space.

I feel that the controls should be less, complicated. If you recall the BF2:MC demo with the helicopter's controls. That would be ideal.

But i think that it should also have the wieght taken into consideration, so unless you counteract your motion, say, to the left. Just letting go of the throttle wont stop you, but you will float to the side for a bit.

And about those damage specs. That would make it better than the tank, which shouldnt happen. No vehicle should exceed 3 rockets to kill. It is unbalanced. It may not be realistic, but it is unbalanced.

COMPLICATED?! I just friggin posted them! The only thing different than any other vehciles is Ascend and Descend which is necessary because its a troop transport aircraft.

If you would read my post... i provided a solution. The reason you claim it inst nimble enough is becuase your basing your judgement on the current map size. But what if it was on a map 3 times the size of coag? I think that a Pelican would be pretty nice as appose to a warthog or ghots, or even a banshee. Its tougher, and can fly a little faster.

Sure a pelican would be a flying coffin, if it was unarmed. But pelicans (in general) have a turret in the back, front, and rocket launcher pods on both wings. Besides, I'm sure it would take a least 3 to 4 rocket rounds to bring one down.
