The controls for a banshee wouldnt feel right with the way the thrust system is set up on the Pelican. That is why a 2 joystic control system would work better. It is easier to control the pelican than pushing a button and using a joytstic. That would be vcery difficult.

One stick would change elevation and roll. The other stick would change velocity and pitch.

But yea, I don't think you guys realize what kind of game Halo is, its not Star Wars Battle Front or something, its a first person shooter!

Don't get me wrong, I would like to have it, but not in this game. For a game to have the pelican in multiplayer, it would have to be significantly downgraded, like Star Wars BattleFront.

You just can't keep the same gameplay and have a good map like Halo 2 does.
You would have to tone down the graphics a lot, and have no pickupable weapons.


A Pelican would derivefrom the quality of the game, I just don't think technology could suport a Pelican, because of the sheer size and quality a map would need.

And having a dropship, I see it as something that would be more of a complaint than a bonus. The maps Bungie produces rarely have invisible walls, except for air vehicles, the sense you will get from the Pelican not being able to go so high, or go so far might get a little dank.

People, people, people... you dont understand how tough a pelican is. If a tank takes 4 rockets to back to destroy, why should a Pelican which is like 3x bigger, take only 2? Like what I said before, where you hit it depends on how many rockets it takes.

wow now wonder why your name is retarded moose cause you are a retarded moose!!Lol I agree with the idea after mine but I think the controlls should be the same way that it is when people make the peli pilotable in most maps on halo ce not like Battlefield 2's controllers imo they were very difficult plus it was a helicopter not a transport ship.I am going to change my first idea a little bit.I say put a chaingun on the nose of the pelican and put another chaingun on where the passengers are sitting.Although the chaingun will be as weak as the one I said on my first idea.The reason why I thought on adding another chaingun to the peli is because to just protect the people that are coming out of the pelican with a chaingun.Plus it should still be able to carry vehicles and carry weapon pods.

That statement is false.

And besides, once again, you are basing your claim on the current bungie maps. Bungie can make a map that would be suitable for a pelican. IE a map 2-3 times larger than coag. And it really wouldnt take away that much from the game. Why? Becuase the object is already there, its just in campaign and not multiplayer. It really isnt that hard to code it into matchmaking. The only difference would be that you could control ever aspect of the vehicle.

Try flying the Pelican on Halo 2, Very easy. the joysticks do the same thing as any other vehicle, and as being a Pelican is not a fast enough for its size, its not possible for it to do barrel rolls. Its simply too big.

Yes the pelican should be able to carry vehicles; the pilot should reverse the pelican over an upright vehicle and it should say press x to pick up say warthog.I think by weapon pods you mean the rocket pods but if you mean the thing at the back were like snipers come out of it cylindrical pods then that is a good idea

And about the picking up vehicles. It should be "Y" not x because x is enter/exit vehicle and that would create confusion.

So methinks it's not a good idea because the gameplay issue would spiral out of control.

Every vehicle in Halo 2 is balanced to an extent. They're not too powerful. And they're not too weak. But you guys are suggesting a kind of ultimate vehicle. It would be unbeatable, having two guns, one in back, one in front.

But a Pelican would have to be evened out, which is impossible, there is no map available today that would satisfy the size and scale of a Pelican, it would be to small.

Ok for the people that think that the pelican is too big for the map than how about the phantom dropship its a little smaller than a pelican but it fitted very well on the first level you play as the arbiter on halo 2.I think if bungie is going to make a map with pelicans or phantoms in it atleast make it the size of The Arbiter level on halo 2.So make the maps kinda of like an air battle for pelicans phantoms,banshees and all the other flying vehicles out there.O yeah and mission hill we understand what your saying thats why we are trying to think of the weaknesses the pelican should have to even it out we are trying to even it out for gameplay to still be as good as halo 2's gameplay.

Or switch grenade so you can have slightly more control over the Pelican while you pick something up.

the maps size would not be a problem because:first of all its an XBOX360!!!!!!!!!!!
second it IS easy to code the map into mp

Help me out here. Isn't there another plane that come out in one of the books. I forgot the name of it, it was a solo pilot plane like the Banshee. Also doesn't the pelican need two people to fly it and operate the guns.

I hope bungie does put the pelican into MP, but as a drop ship. Take your team and a tank to a specifice location. I know the covie have one as well, and hope that it's also put into MP.

i think they should make both the pelican AND the phantom then there would be no "ultimate vehicle" ,happy now?I also think they should bring back the shade becaues it is better than the plasma turret so the phantom should have three shades or bring the covenant dropship from halo 1 back or have both the phantom and covenant dropship

You still havent read my way of balancing have you? I purposed a 2 rocket kill, 3 if it is not a correct hit. I will say it again though.

5 targets on a pelican. 1 is the rear turret, the other 4 are the thrusters and wings. Now each of those targets can take only 1 rocket. Basically taking out 2 thrusters would destroy the vehicles lift and balance, so that would be when it is destroyed. I dont think that makes it any sort of GOD weapon.

No the pelican does not need 2 people to pilot the 2nd person who gets in is the co pilot he basicly controls the weapons of the pelican if the co pilot is not in than the pilot controls the weapons too.Plus I think the phantom should still be available in multiplayer to play.So in multiplayer Capture the flag Reds get the Phantom and Blues get the peli.

the skyhawk was a jump jet which was capable of atmospheric transition(going from space to in the earth's atmosphere and vice versa)

Lol I'm sorry but that is total bullsh** and you know it. You would be pissed if the Master Chief used only fruit as weapons.

There is only a few ways to balance a pelican in multiplayer. One, the pelican cannot be blown out of the air. Yes, this means that no ammount of rockets can cause it to just explode. But. on the same token, after it loses two thrusters, or takes sufficent damage, it crashes. (Think goes forward, plows into the ground)

Thnk of the crash damage like getting the gas tank shot out from underneath your ghost. you could have "press a to exit vehicle" at any time, so if you are gong down you can jump out. the crash would be equivilent to a frag grenade going off by you, I.E. no shields, but alive.

The crashing speed would be great, too, to make it hard to eject and not get caught in the crash. In addition, it should take a little more than a rocket per thruster, to make a Killimanjaro on wings more appealing. (By little more than rocket, I mean pepper it with a SMG and the thruster breaks)

Even that is a balance issue, considering it took a blast from the Scarab gun to take out one in campaign
