I know that having all the different types of characters in the multi-player aspect would make things unbalanced, but what if I told you that there's a way to balance it? What if I told you that there is a way to include eight different characters in multi-player and it would be as even as a symetrical picture?

Here's the dealio, most games of eight verses eight are fun, right? So if you took eight character roles from the campaign(grunt, elite, spartan, jackel, brute, hunter, marine, and prophet), and both teams the same characters, wouldn't that be equal for a 16 person game? Both teams would have the same set of characters, and it would be a first come, first serve kinda deal when getting to choose your character in the match-making room. That's a feesable way to include other characters into multi-player with balance. Just think about all those MMORP games, they have bands of people with different roles and such, and they work together to accomplish a task. So if two evenly matched teams, character wise, existed in a multiplayer game I think it could work. What are your thoughts?

i'm not for sure exactly how balanced that would be, but it would make a lot of people unhappy because they didn't get the character that they wanted to be.

Well, not everyone gets the weapon or vehilce they want either, so it's nothing new to find out that you have no vehicle, and you are stuck with your smg.

Well, let's say you were the Brute, you wouldn't only fight the other teams Brute... you'd still run into other characters and if it was a Grunt he'd kill you because he's so small and you're
so huge.

Maybe a whole sperate like mutliplayer aspect could be added for this. Like this could be an "in addition to" type thing, because yeah it sounds good, and looks good on paper, doesnt mean it will work.theres too many flaws in the idea for me to sit here and point them out.

I jsut really don't see how people can say that they want this. Its just no matter what, it's not a good idea.

Prophets? And this is Halo were talking about not World of Warcraft, you probably haven't ever played them, if you think it would be a good idea. I don;t want to get stuck as a prophet!

And about never getting the weapon you want, you eventually do! But by choosing your character, youre stuck with it for the rest of the game.

And besides, people will get mad. Having grunts?? I mean cmon!! There should be no, if a little difference between the multiplayer characters. Flood is barely crossing that line, but to have Jackals, Grunts, and the rest be exactly the same height as the Master Chief, which they are not!

Yea! Let's have you upgrade your character too! And learn new moves and save peasants and stuff!

Aside from me being mad at the lack of understanding, I would like it if there was at least one more character to play as.

I wouldn't mind playing as a prophet or a grunt, just so I could say:

"I beat you as a grunt...how bout them apples?"

It would be interesting but not that fun overall. Most of the multiplayer fun in Halo 2 comes from the fact that it's your skill versus his skill (unless he has a sniper rifle and you have an smg and your seperated by 500 feet). Having that many different types of players would make the game more influenced by the luck of the draw, if you get the grunt, jackal, or prophet you're probably dead, while the lucky ones would get killtaculars.

Think about what ya'll are talking about. Every single confrontation is not level weapon wise, or vehicle wise. Every time you see someone, they have a different weapon than you, and it's your job to figure out how to handle that situation. Sure this style of play wouldn't be for everybody, but which game-variant is? My point is that I think there are quite a few people who would like this style of play, and wouldn't mind playing as a different character each time to spice things up.

To add another thing, the map excessability would limit the Hunter. It would be good for the other characters, and the Jackel and Grunt would have spots and places special to them. The differences of each race would be a same thing as weapon selection. Each one has pluses and minuses, so don't talk about it not being level when the game is built upon different levels of adversity and how you react to them.

IMO, this kind of things always sounds good in your head, but never works well on paper. Not with the kind of MP experience halo is known for. IMO, class based shooters are fun for a while, but due to the inhernet inblances, end up being shortlived.
