You should of made up your own instrument. You could have named it the PolarLighting -a-phone. People would buy it and they would all be like "Awh, He's so cool for inventing the PolarLighting-a-phone."

I don't see any disadvantages to it. Aslong as it doesn't distract them from the good stuff.

As long as spectators can only communicate with other spectators, if at all. Also, whatever movement spectators have should not have any impact on the game by impeding player progress etc.

Unfortunatly, I see a spectator mode being the first Halo 3 cheating problem, where some kid learns how to glitch his player model into a spectator character, so he flies around invisible, destroying the game...

I originally thought that it was a good idea, but this guy has a good point. I say have it in there until retards start using it to cheat

Another thing bungie could do would be to allow you to record a game session as a spectator. That would be fun just to watch how your brother/friend pwned in a match 12 different times. It would be even more amazing if you could record how everyone on the battlefield moved/fired/jumped about (not just from your perspective) so you could fly around and see the battle from different perspectives. Having a spectator mode would also be useful in making machinima (if specator mode is available over a lan connection).

A spectator mode would be fun to have. Just watching games for fun.

Alot of pros however will complain about this idea. Mainly because all the hiding spots that were found in one game, aren't exactly hidden anymore.

it would be so helpful in one life gametypes

This could possibly one of the best features in Halo 3. Could lead to alot of interesting developments in the gameplay.

I believe this will work, it woild make machima and videos more movie like, then having to rely on Action Replay or dumb glitches.

Plus I find it stupid to be forced to follow people around, I want to free fly!

People with poor depth perception tend to go the extra mile.

Uniquely Hard Sniper Map

A spectator mode would be really cool, but, as a couple people have pointed out, it would open the door to a new way of cheating, a cheating that would be next to impossible to prove. All someone would have to do is have thier friends over and play a team game. Two or three people would play and one would be a spectator, who could then fly around and see where the enemy was. That wouldn't be cool. You would probably know they cheated but no one could prove it because the spectator could just say he only watched his teammates. But if Bungie made a way to only watch one team, or made it only for non-team games, then i think the spectator mode would be awesome.

I see one, what if a spectator is in a private chat with someone who plays and tell all the ennemies' positions? It's kinda useless to do that unless you play really seriously like in matchmaking, so the best way to avoid that is to have a spectator mode in custom games only OR remove private chat feature when you are in Matchmaking.

Right, I think that would eliminate cheating becasue people would only be interested in watching High Levels.

You got a point, like in PGR3 there would be the "Pro" channel where all the high levels are watched, so if they cheat it's easy for any spectator to denounce them.

No one should ever be afraid of looking stupid, so long as they are making a rational effort to expand their understanding.

With chat channels, this would definitely not be cool.
