Greetings. Over the course of this forum's brief existence, several (hundred) threads have flowered and died regarding ambient sounds, life, neutral AI, such as animals, and civilians, friendly AI that exist for the purpose of making the world seem more real. Over the course of these topics, I have responded in a few with my opinions; however, I could now like to compile my opinions on these various additions as a Bungie fan and a person who takes a great interest in their next game.

Chiefly, what I want to address is the idea of such things as animals larger than birds and insects and civilians. At first, this sounded like a cool idea to me, one that would increase the immersion. As I thought on it, however, the more it seemed like it wouldn't work. In any areas where one would be fighting Covenant on foot, there would be no animals that are still alive. The individuals that could would flee as fast as the can from the Covenant; those that were too slow would be killed for target practice by the Covenant. As a result, there would be no animals for you to kill; they all would be dead. However, the carcasses of these animals on the ground, or even instances where the player comes onto a triggered event where we ("we" being the player) see a Covenant AI or a pack of AI that have just finished killing native animals (or civilians, alternately) would help the immersion. This would also apply to civilians; if they haven't fled, they would have already been killed.

i want to hear cheezy 70s -blam!- music along with the sound of rhythmically gyrating grunts and snarls in the background.
