There was a midely large arguement I was involved in about the Pelican, and I came to the conclusion of such--
The Pelican doesnt fit into the gameplay of Halo. Halo's maps have the touch of smallness that makes them unique, maps arent too large or small, they are just right.
But to put a transport vehicle in a game like Halo seems a little too "unHaloish"
And by that I mean that the levels are designed perfectly! In every map, they give the feeling that you know what's going on, and at the samee time there is a little confusion. A map that would neccesitate in a Pelican would have to house at least 80 people. THAT would make it UnHaloish.
There is a possibility of making a map that could house a Pelican, but you would need more like a fleet of Pelicans, sure, they could be armored very well, but what is every one going to do when they see a behemoth in the sky? They are going to shoot it down, that will become their priority, it doesn't really matter how tough it is.
And by making the map UnHaloish I mean, it would be huge. Like so--" you are running toward the base of the enemy, at this point you don't know what is going on, youre flag is missing, the map is too huge to find the person who has it, you don't know if you have the flag or not, there are 39 other peope on your team, everyone is yelling in a blur of noise, a guy next to you gets shot by a sniper, the map is too big to see where it came from. A pelican mows you down with its guns."
That wouldnt be fun would it? The fact that Halo's battles are smaller make it good. However, I would actually like to see some more Pelican action.
I think that if Bungie decided to put Pelicans in, they would release a map pack, which would have like 6 maps or so that would house Pelicans, to give that epic feel of battles that Halo offers. And there would be a gametype on Live that would use only those maps.
That's what methinks.
