Subject: Vote! ** The NEW Pelican** Should bungie make it pilotable for Hal...

Almost only counts in horse-shoes and hand grenades.

I like your idea a lot but having turrets on the wings is a bad way to go, you should have one under the cockpit for targets in front and one mounted in the compartment area like in Halo 2. The reason is if something falls in behind you like a banshee, you wont be able to shoot it down. Making it smaller, i think is a great idea, less of a tacket to rockets or tanks, and it should probably be faster and more manueverable, especially if it were in a big level like waterworks where anything can be hiding anywhere.

1) To incorporate the Pelican, it would require MUCH larger maps.
2) To incorporate MUCH larger maps, would require more players. (24+ players)
3) To incorporate more players would require more bandwidth (more lag), less visual detail, a complete overhaul in Halo gameplay as we know it, and less organized team warfare.
4) To incorporate said things would require Halo to suddenly become Battlefield. It wouldn't be Halo. It'd be some screwed over hybrid that wasn't very fun to play. Incorporating something into the game, as simple as the flyable pelican, would almost definatly ammount to sale losses on Microsoft's and Bungie's part.

If you all want to play that kind of game, just go play Battlefield. It's a great series. Please, this isn't even reasonable.

zzzzzz.... SNo0o0oree...zzzzzzz hu, what, this is halo 3 moron, on the xbox 360. Expect bigger maps, vehicles and 32 MP levels on 360 live. Amazing how technology advances (aka evolves, as Halo gameplay has from 1 to 2 and certainly shall in 3 as well).

You should be ashamed of yourself for posting such tripe... Adding more players results in a need for more organized play to use large transports such as the pelican.... As for a larger slayer level, that justmeans more vehicle warfare aka more CARNAGE! Also, levels wouldn't need to be much large if the pelican were smalller... say twice to three times the size of a banshee, for instantance... thats the whole point of this thread, which means its obviously not a repeat... so why don't you go flame your own repeat post...zzzz...SNORE..zzzz... READ BEFORE YOU WRITE PEOPLE!

The Pelican would be the most unfair thing in the game, stripped down or not. You would have to make it vulnerable to all weapons to balance its huge firepower advantage and ability to carry people. Either that or make its weapon a nerf gun.

Either way, nobody would want to get in one. If it gets put in, everyone will yell at Bungie and say that they made the game for kids.
umm ur retarted if bungie put the pelican in im sure they make it a 2 gun ship like a heli 2 turrets one on each side and maby rocets in the front.

Yes, maybe if Bungie was the most retarded game developer ever, then they would have to compromise like that. Fortunately for us all, Bungie doesn't suck ass at making games and know full well how to harness the power of the 360 to make larger maps, its already been said that most Xbox360 games will feature 32 players over Xbox Live! so why should Halo 3 be any different?

In fact I'd be sorely disappointed if Halo 3 DIDN'T allow for 32 players, and on that basis I'd also assume there are larger maps so we could have a Pelican or something similar.

My idea would be to have the human equivalent of a Banshee and the Pelican added as well as probably the Covenant equivalent of the Pelican (we've seen many versions in Halo 1 and 2) however the Pelican and Covenant equivalent would obviously have to be very fragile in multiplayer, it should probably take no more than 2 rockets to take one down (I mean completely destroy it and kill its occupants) and having it be able to carry Warthogs and tanks is a bit much but would be kind of cool. You guys have to remember, both teams would be able to use them so its not really a big deal if its a LITTLE overpowered, atleast in my eyes.

Sorry, but for your use of the word "Retarded" I refuse to reply. I'll keep my opinion to myself from now on, thanks. :)

Stop the hypocrites!

Call it the Falcon or Peregrine or something. Whatever it does it should carry more people than any other vehicle so probably 6 max counting driver or what have you. Make it fast with no attatched guns except people riding can shoot out of ports or something but it would be difficult like riding passenger on a warthog. It takes about 5 seconds for the landing process during which it would be vunerable. I agree with the poster a few up who said that the whole idea of a Pelican means larger maps and that can lead to problems. So only a few multiplayer huge maps that are the only ones that can support the Pelican. That sounds good to me

I think the main problem with making the pelican too large and be massivelly equiped ( such as a carrying capacity of 6 people, or rockets) is that the only levels that can support it are going to be huge (32 players) and have to be played over live, which blows for guys that dont have live.

A moderate sized pelican or revised new smalller version could work well on levels like coagulation (think about dropping players off at the sniping point way up over the blue base if you team is red and then having him cover you will you land to drop off the other 5 ( 3 players in the cargo and two spartans on the turrets) to over run the base and snag the flag.

Your idea is almost perfect. it should be able to hold more people than suggested and it should be able to be shot down. I think it's a good idea though.
