I've heard some people saying that the great flood in the Bible was actually The Flood from Halo, or it symbolized it. There are some issues with this however. God had told Noah that it would rain 40 days and 40 nights. Not zombie like creatures that kill everything would infest the earth. Noah built an Ark out of wood, and it even gives the exact measurements. So in no way could The Ark in Halo be this. Wood rots. After 40 days and nights, it stopped raining, and then awhile later the water began to go away. The Flood would not just dissapear. And finally, God told Noah that he would never flood the earth again.

The Flood was named that because when they come, they come in large numbers. a "flood" of them. The dictionary defines an ark as being a shelter or refuge. That's where they got the name Ark from.

It's Noah. The game doesn't have to be literal in context.

I would say that the Flood in Halo could represent Sin, and that the activation of the Halos represent the Flood in the Noah's Ark story, and the Library is Noah's Ark.

An Interesting thought. The flood in Noah's story was to purge the world clean of the sinners. God told Noah to build the Ark to protect him. But the Library couldn't be the ark as there are multiple libraries, but only one ark.

Hmm.......woah......I just thought of something big.......I shall post my theory tommarow. It's 2:51 AM, so I gotta get some Zzzzs. Brain......overloading......must sleep.....before......brain explodes.......*passes out*

I always see the activation of Halo being "Judgement Day". Armageddon, the ultimate battle between good and evil; where sinful nature is defeated at the cost of all life ceasing to exist. Yet those worthy transcend.

PLEASE DO NOT SEND ME GROUP INVITATIONS

The Halo REACH Script (post thoughts in thread)

Writing Lead of Whisper Studios. Check out Heron!

Look... I'm on bungiepedia!

Things in Halo are represent, or represent many things..

Cortana..a real-life sword
She is also an AI in Marathon, correct?

MJOLNIR..Thor's Hammer
Also used by the cyborg in Marathon..

Flood..Great Flood, Sin
Only safe in the Ark..and they're controlled by Gravemind (Satan), and "take someone over" similar to the way Sin is claimed to do in the bible..

Gravemind..Satan/Lucifer
"I am a monument to all your sins"

Chief/Arbiter..Jesus..Saul/Paul..John The baptist Arbiter was 'stabbed' while he was being punished in the bginning of Halo 2, and market as a Heritic..John and him both went to the Grave (The Gravemind), so they have been reborn technically.

Jesus' second coming was described like this:Then, in Heaven, the Temple of God was opened and the Ark of his covenant could be seen inside the Temple. Lightning flashed, thunder crashed and roared; there was a great hailstorm, and the world was shaken by a mighty earthquake.John is making his second coming in Halo 3..any trailer's details catchin' your attention yet?

Maybe they all collectively represent Noah's Ark. They do contain DNA, and that's how a modern ark could function. All life would die, but it would be preserved by the DNA in the Libraries.

But Halo was activated thousands of years ago. If that was Judgement Day, wewouldn't be where we are trying to defeat the Covenant. The Flood still exists. Flood symbolizes sin, to a certain extent. I must sleep now. Get my thoughts written down in the morning.......oh wait......it is morning........oh well.

Sorry for the double post. Well, I managed to string some of my thoughts together to come up with a few things. Most of these have been said before, but I made some slight alterations.

The Flood ---- Sin/demons
Flood is controlled by Gravemind. They "posses" people just like demons would.

The Libraries? ---- Ark?
Libraries contain DNA. All life ceases to exist, but the DNA lives on. I don't particularly agree with this, but this is the only evidence I have.

Gravemind ---- Satan
"I am a monument to all your sins" This is all the evidence I have so far. Still researching.

Arbiter ---- Jesus?
When the Arbiter was punished for being a heretic, his body was put up in a way similar to that of Jesus hanging on the cross. The Arbiters body was burnt, and was marked as a heretic. When he was brought to the prophets his quote was: "I am already dead" signifying the death of Jesus. Then he was "reborn" as the Arbiter.

Halos ---- The great flood
When the Halos activate, it kills all sentient life. Except those in the Ark. This is a shelter or fefuge. The great flood in the Bible wiped out every living thing on earth. Humans, giants, dragons (they did exist), and dinosaurs. But Noah, his family, and all the other animals, were saved by the Ark God then promised Noah he would never flood the earth again. If the symbolism of the Halos and the great flood stays true, the Halos cant be activated again.

I'm still working on it. This is the best I have so far. All the other stuff is iffy, and I'm still doing research on it. I am without Halo 2, and the novels, so my theories are limited. At least I have the Halo Archives.......

spot on. i reckon the ark (hence other forerunner installations) don't allow forerunner creations to use them, hence the covies can't activate the halos, and the flood can't enter the ark. notice how gm isn't technically touching the index when keyes gets it in h2

Well, I thunked again.......

Okay. I just learned that Noah's Ark can symbolize Jesus. When Jesus makes his second coming, all the beleivers go with him to heaven, while sin and the anti-christ ravage the Earth for 7(hmm.....) years. Then after that, Armageddon. All of the demons and non-beleviers are wiped out by Jesus. Then Satan, and hell is thrown into the lake of fire. Since the Ark can symbolize Jesus, perhaps when the Ark in Halo is activated, it wipes out the Flood. Now.....who are the non-beleivers in this case? Covenant or Humans?
