Important Notice: Even though this is a rant, I don't want to see any people flaming or making comments about other users. Try not to make this a flame war, please. Play nice.
Okay, in my opinion, this place is a mess. There are thousands of [repeat] threads floating around, and this place is falling apart at the seams. We need to keep our heads together, and many things need to be clarified for many of the members here. Let’s get a few facts straight, and let’s try to keep this place friendly. (I only have good intentions in mind, so if any of this comes across as an attack at certain users, that is not what I am trying to accomplish.)
First of all, let me say a few things about posting ideas here. Don’t post a new topic every time you have an idea for Halo 3. There are designated threads for posting Halo 3 ideas, including this one, so you don’t need to congest the forum with your threads. If you don’t think that your ideas will get read if you post them in a 400 page thread, then tough luck. If ten thousand other people can do it, then you can do it too. Don’t be selfish, and don't ask for attention by making your own thread.
Now, most of this is opinion, but I don’t think that it’s a good idea to post ideas (that you want Bungie to put in the game) on this forum in the first place. The thing that bugs me is that for every idea that you all post, that will be one idea that most likely won’t make it into the game. Why? Let’s pretend that we have a hypothetical situation…
Suppose Timmy posts an idea for Halo 3 on the forums. When Halo 3 comes out, whatever he suggested has somehow made it into the game. Whether or not Bungie read his idea or if they came up with it on their own, we don’t know. Anyway, Timmy wants credit for his idea making it into the game. He isn’t going to get it, though. So guess what? He decides to sue. We all know that Bungie will not have a huge problem dealing with this, but with hundreds of ideas being posted every day, the odds of at least ten people doing this are very high. I’m sorry to say it, but Bungie isn’t going to listen to any of your “suggestions.” Unless they specifically say that all ideas posted on this forum become their property, your ideas are probably not going to be looked at.
I don’t like it when grade school kids think they can boss Bungie around by posting their “ideas” and demanding that it be put into the game. Kids, stop asking for attention. None of you are video game designers, and I’m pretty sure that none of you know anything about what it takes to make a good game. Just stop demanding things like screaming toddlers. It saddens me, as well as many other members when we see the mass of nonsense that plagues these forums. Let Bungie make the game. If you want to discuss an idea, then by all means, go ahead and converse with your peers on this forum. But when you beg and cry with your “Please put this in the game, Bungie!!!”, you’re not helping at all. Just be quiet. Stop whining. The day a multi-million dollar corporation takes the advice of a twelve year old is the day that the sun disappears. It’s ridiculous.
Okay. Release dates. I will just say that anything you read or hear at Best Buy, EB, etc. is a lie. Unless you hear it from Bungie's mouth, it's not true. Remember, Best Buy is the company that sells traded in hard drives with all of your personal information still on it. If you think that you can trust them with release dates, then you might as well take candy from a stranger.
Anyway, just try and keep the forum clean. Don’t post anything unless it is in accordance with the rules, and perhaps in accordance with what has been said here. I mean, that's just my opinion.
Rant over. Please resume your normal activities.
