Chief. And Die cant be used in the same scentense unless the words, Dosen't or never, or can't are in-between them.

Sadly, I just can't see the Chief going home and playing some volleyball at the beach, or kickin' back in a recliner while watching some sports channel. I know he'll finish the mission and save humanity, but due to the earlier augmentations he and the other Spartans received during their training ( from the Halo book series) I think he will start to perform less functionally as the delayed effects take a toll on his body. He could be inches away from the button that saves the human race, and his whole body hurts, but he slowly reaches up and touches the button with the last of his energy, saving all of mankind, then slumping to the ground, and leaving a pit of metal in our hearts. I think that would be the way he would want to go anyway, knowing he finished the job...

It's supposed to end triumphantly, a la "Return of the King", as Martin "The Pimp" O'Donnell had said.

The only way I could see it coming to what Marty said is if the Master Chief became the leader of the alliance. However, the Arbiter will be the one to die, as foreshadowed by the Prophet of Mercy.

Master Chief = Protector of Earth and all her Colonies. A War Hero and Leader who can pick up the torch easily, if Lord Hood and the Admiralty are all killed in Halo 3.
The Arbiter = A Hero whose whole life was a lie, everything he ever trusted is now in shambles, and he is now fighting the very thing he swore to defend.
