In the trailer the Covenent ships went right past MC why didnt they fire on him. Another thing why didn't MC fire on the Banshees that flew bye him. He did have a fireable weapon. The Assault Rifle...which is probably not like the original just "similar". Anyways i think the Covenent and Master Chief are working together to destroy Gravemind, the Flood and possibly....the forerunners. Also I think Cortanna has gone rouge at the end of the Halo 2 if you watch till after the credits Gravemind says" I will ask and you will listen" and then Cortanna says "Alright shoot" and then the music keys in and gasp. I also think (when i was reading the august issue of Official Xbox Magazine) that bungie said "Where she is now is an Important of where we intend to journey with the final installment of the Halo trilogy" So i think shes at the ark and I don't think the ark is on earth"It's kind to hard to communicate via nueral interface from across the galaxy". So what do you guys think?

Ps. HALO 3 Will realese in Fall of 2007...

"Your destruction is the will of the gods...and we are their instrument."

The reason the Master Chief didn't fire on the banshees was becuase there was an entire covenant fleet in front of him. If he had fired, he'd have about 60 banshees, 30 phantoms, and 3 capitol ships on his ass. But I can relate to the whole idea of the humans and parts of the covenant working together. At the end of H2, the rest of the Covenant turned on the Elites, Grunts, and Hunters, it would be awsome to have the master cheif running along side a couple hunters.

That part I agree with. But the fact of the matter is that without faith, the Covenant would not exist. The Chief blew the crap out of their salvation. If the prophets aren't hunting him down, they -blam!- should be. As well, Cortana has a sworn enemy she can't kill, and can't kill her. So, she is going to extract as much info as possible, to try to: A: End Covenant hostilities or destroy the Covenant. B: Neutralize the threat of the flood towards humanity. C: Eliminate the threat posed by the Halos towards all sentient life

There are no betrayal options. Your in with your team, or you are dead.

They probably just didn't notice him. He was one person and they probably didn't realize who he was. It's not practical to wast plasma on one guy. They passed right past him just to make the moment more dramatic. Plus, they were all gathering to see the big glowy structure rise up. If they would have stopped to kill him, they might have missed it, and have come all the way for nothing. My final point is that when MC asked Mercy where Truth was going, he said "Earth, to finish what we started." and what they started was the destruction of the human race.

I may be wrong, but I do believe the MC is just teamed up with the Elites.

And the elites are teamed up with the grunts and hunters.

My rebutle to this is how come if he's teamed up with the covenent, why is he there to resurect ancient forerunner tecknology if it's used for destroying all sentient life? That's no good news to him.

Even if he is working with the Elites, those weren't necessarily Elites in those Banshees. I think the best explanation is that the things flying those Banshees didn't think killing him was important, probably because they thought the Great Journey was at hand. Of course, it could be that they are Elites and they are on the MC's side, but even if the Elites weren't teamed with him they wouldn't bother killing him if they thought the Great Journey was happening right at that moment, so that is the explanation that is most easily believable.

Maybe the Covenent weren't trying to activate it and were trying to stop it and the forerunners were activating "it" plus we don't even know what "it" (the glowy stucture) is?

This is the point I've been trying to make, except you worded it alot better than I did.

The forerunners couldn't have been activating it because they all is dead. And why did they raise it if they were going to blow it up? They could have just as easilly blown it up thorugh the ground.
