I have an interesting idea for Halo 3.
Some of you may like it, some of you may not.
But I'm ready for any kind of criticism and/or praise...you can flame all you want. I'm used to it. :)
What if...
Just what if...
...We couldn't use the energy sword in halo 3. Just think about it. Think about how scary elites were in halo 1. Didn't you run away in fear when you saw a gold or stealth elite rush at you with a blade dripping with plasmic energy? In halo 2, this great feeling is somewhat there, but not as much; it's lacking in Halo 2 because the player has the ability to use the energy sword as well, and it makes the elites look like morons. The energy sword doesn't seem as swift or punishing in Halo 2. I think it's because we can use it.
I just think that in halo 1, the sword seemed much more frightening because A) the four-jawed beast is rushing at me with it, B) the sword actually had a deep sapphire glow to it, and C) we weren't powerful enough to harness that magnificent energy.
So what if it was in halo 3, but could not be used by the player? Just to enhance the fact that elites are supposed to be deadly, I mean. It would also make elites more unique.
What do you guys think? Well, it would be stupid to suddenly be able to use the sword and then don't use it, that's like suffering brain damage.
The effect is still there to me, most levels, like in MEtropolis, the last White Elite you encounter gets a sword, roars, and chases you. To me that's just as scary. You couldn't use a sword yet anyway. The thing is you really can't use the weapon on Legendary, it becomes trash unless it's used on Flood. IT takes two lunges to kill a major with it, a lot more for stronger Elites. Essentially destroying the swords purpose there So you get that fear on Legendary. You should anyway :)
